Set in idyllic farmland just outside the jewel of the Yorkshire Coast - Whitby, Abbey View is an accessible holiday home, with uninterrupted views over the neighbouring rolling fields to Whitby Abbey. Abbey View is located within the farm grounds in its own private, completely self-contained enclosed grassed area with outdoor furniture. Ideal for enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It is accessed via a well lit non-slip path and ramp with veranda overlooking open countryside down towards Whitby Abbey and the Sea. Watch out for deer and hares as this is a great spot for nature lovers. The owners have taken careful steps to ensure that the property is accessible for a wide range of guests, so that you can enjoy a comfortable stay whilst enjoying this wonderful area, with many attractions nearby as well as scenic views and a host of wildlife on your doorstep. With private off-road parking, there is a ramp leading up to the door, with a decked area offering fantastic views. The doorways are all wide access, with low thresholds, allowing wheelchair users to have easy access throughout. The layout is all on one level, with tasteful décor flowing throughout. The lounge is designed with your comfort in mind, with the bonus of an electric rise and recline chair. The kitchen is well equipped and has low worktops, making this accessible for wheelchair users. There is a dining table both in the open plan living area, as well as outside for al fresco dining in the sunshine. There are two twin bedrooms, one of these twin rooms has an electric bed, with adjustable settings ensuring that you can find a comfortable sleeping position. The wet room has grab rails as well as a fold down seat and non-slip floors. Abbey View has been carefully designed to provide guests with a wide range of mobility their independence as well as the home comforts which ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. There are additional mobility and living aids available on request if required. Whitby has something for all age groups and is one of the most visited resorts along the East Coast. There are many independent shops and art galleries as well as the very popular jewellery shops that sell the locally sourced jet the town was famous for. This seafaring town is proud of its heritage, there are tales of Viking invasions, heroic sea rescues as well as seafaring pioneers. Today fishermen still sail from Whitby, there are many award-winning restaurants where you can sample the freshly caught seafood. There are also festivals throughout the seasons making this a perfect all year-round resort to visit. The surrounding North York Moors National Park is full of woodland trails as well as the wonderful heritage steam railway that runs through the middle. The steam train leaves Whitby and travels over the moors towards the market town of Pickering, with picturesque villages along the way. There is an array of beaches and seaside towns and villages along the coast to visit, you can even hire all terrain wheelchairs from a locally based organisation for a trip along the golden sand.
