Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Dales to the west, and the North York Moors to the east, make up some of the most breath-taking scenery in all of England, all within easy driving distance of Harrogate. Historic buildings including Norton Conyers and Newby Hall & Gardens, as well as the National Trust's Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, may also be found in the vicinity.
