Location Details

Rocester is a charming settlement on the boundary between Derbyshire and Staffordshire, situated on a triangular plot of ground between the Churnet and the Dove rivers. The village was listed in the Domesday Book, and it is located on the site of an ancient Roman fort. The world-famous JCB factory is located in Rocester, and the business has landscaped the region to create beautiful walking paths and intriguing sculptures in the adjoining park. The Fossor, a sculpture constructed entirely out of digger components, stands as the most prominent of these. Rocester is the midpoint of the Staffordshire Way that traverses the length of Staffordshire and the beginning of the Limestone Way that leads to Matlock. Ashbourne, a charming market town not far from Rocester, and the family amusement park Alton Towers are both easily accessible. Historical homes, market towns, moorland, rolling hills, and valleys can be found in either the Staffordshire or Derbyshire sections of the Peak District National Park, both of which are conveniently accessible from Rocester.
