Details

The Lookout offers spectacular sea views and is tucked away up a lane at the top of a no-through road. From its elevated position, this striking hideaway looks across the marsh in Salthouse towards the unspoilt coastline, and is set in the most tranquil and picturesque spot. It is a unique couples retreat and a wonderful place to run away to with no interference from traffic or aircraft noises, and no street lights - a perfect place to stargaze.

This characterful detached beach house has a laid back vibe. As you approach you are greeted by three huge palms, making you feel like you are in the Caribbean. Stone steps take you past a curved flint wall into an enclosed courtyard filled with Phormiums and Bamboo. Just recently reimagined, The Lookout has been designed with style and imagination. With its individual interior, characterised by a mix of hand crafted and antique pieces, the walls are adorned with painstakingly sourced artwork.

In walking distance of the beach, a popular gastro pub/restaurant, shop, cafe and fish restaurant, The Lookout was originally built as an artists’ studio and was once owned by the world-renowned celebrity fisherman, John Bailey. Now with a Scandi/New England style all of its own, it takes influence from its surrounding, with its’ eclectic and colourful mix.

Clad almost entirely in painted tongue and groove panelling with rustic floors throughout, the Hamptons style Blue and White master bedroom suite boasts a king-size four poster bed with en-suite which comes with a free-standing blue bath tub. The second bedroom has a double bed and en-suite shower room. Step down into the bright and airy open-plan living area and you will find yourself in the heart of the house. This room is easy to relax and dine in, with its glorious sea views and laid back style. The 1950s inspired kitchen has everything you need to cook in and the gorgeous Morso wood burning stove is ideal for warming your toes after a long beach walk, or for snuggling down in front of as you enjoy a cosy night in. On warmer days, open up the french doors and step out onto the sun deck where you can dine alfresco in your Mediterranean garden and drink in the sea views. Or enjoy the sunken south-facing garden to the front of the property where you can sunbathe. Upstairs you will find a small study room (the Lookout!) which is an ideal place to work, write, or simply relax and read a book in, whilst checking on the ever-changing sea and marsh views.

The Lookout is well-located for enjoying walks on the beach or in the countryside, exploring all the pretty coastal villages such as Weybourne, Kelling, Cley or Blakeney, or indeed the Georgian market town of Holt. There is space for parking two cars on the gravel driveway to the front of the property, although the track to The Lookout is a bit rough, steep and narrow so low-slung cars may prefer to park at the bottom of the track and walk up.

Additional Information:

Sorry, no pets.

Only children over 12 years and babes in arms please, due to the changes in levels both outside and inside the property.

The staircase to the first floor study is narrow and tight and the study has restricted head-height. There are additional internal steps within the property.

The track which provides access to the property is fairly steep and narrow and is unsurfaced.
