Standing alone and unloved for many a year, this Grade II listed flint cottage, reputedly one of the oldest in the village, has been given a new lease of life, with a lot of love, care, respect and attention to detail and now, with its bright yellow front door, sits high and proud and full of joy.

Built in 1600, and standing in a prominent position in the heart of this historic North Norfolk village, this delightful cottage has everything you would expect to find in a period Norfolk property; latch doors, beamed ceilings, original pamment tiled flooring, lime rendered walls, a winder staircase and even, like many of Binham's houses, includes some stones taken from the village Priory after the Dissolution. Swallow Cottage was later extended at one side and then sadly left to decline. Thankfully having found a new owner who has worked hard with the limitations of an aged cottage, it now provides comfortable, modern living with colourful panache and the odd quirky twist. The cottage is warm and cosy with sleek, tall ceramic radiators in all rooms, bar the bathrooms and kitchen which have underfloor heating, and there's the bonus of a wood burning stove to light too when the nights draw in and the temperature drops. Entering the cottage from the rear courtyard garden, french doors open into the smart and well-equipped fitted kitchen where a row of low level mullioned windows offer discrete views of the village. A dining table sits beside the double french doors; the perfect place to enjoy a meal of local produce, found at one of the village stores, while taking in the view across the courtyard garden. The welcoming, colourful sitting room is just made for relaxing and chatting after a busy day out exploring this beautiful part of North Norfolk. Completing the ground floor is a fully tiled shower room, where a cupboard offers laundry facilities. From the sitting room, a doorway opens to the winder stairs (hand rails to two sides are provided) that lead to the first floor. Here there are two bedrooms (a king-size and a twin/super-king), along with another fully tiled shower room, cleverly concealed behind a sliding door. Outside the cottage has a sunny private courtyard garden that catches the sun's rays all day round. It's fully enclosed too, allowing you to relax while your canine pals roam freely and safely.

Swallow Cottage really is a rather romantic bolt hole, ideal for one or two couples, but also welcoming for a small family with older children; especially those who enjoy the benefits of a peaceful and charming village environment; being able to take some lovely walks or bike rides from outside the front door, call into the local pub for a hearty meal or to sample craft ales, buy provisions from the handy village store, try some of the local raw milk and cheese from The Little Dairy Shop, sample some delicious goodies at The Parlour or perhaps take a wander around the ruins of the village Priory. And that's all before you've explored the beauty of the coast and the many other attractions on offer in this pretty as a picture part of North Norfolk.

Additional Information:

Two well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge). There is an outside tap for washing dirty dogs, wellies etc.

The cottage is not suitable for infants or children under eight years of age.

Pillows and duvets are feather filled.

Underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathrooms.

No barbecue.

As the steps up to the front door are quite high, guests are requested to always enter and exit the cottage via the french doors in the kitchen.

The winder stairs may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues, though two handrails are provided.

Please note: Because lime rendered walls need to breathe and dry out, you may see occasional dusting on the walls. This is not damp, and is harmless.
