Orchard Cottage is a stone, detached barn conversion with stunning far reaching views over the coastline, nestled within South House Farm, in a beautiful region of Yorkshire. It is an ideal getaway for families and friends seeking a much-deserved break away from a busy lifestyle. The capacious and characterful open-plan living area has a lovely homely feel, with sofas, beamed ceiling and well-equipped kitchen. There are many lovely walks from the doorstep and a plethora of cycling trails to enjoy. You have a choice of a king-size double bedroom and a twin, each with built-in basins for your convenience. There is also a ground floor bathroom for your to indulge with a hot soak in the tub or an invigorating shower. From the living area, glass doors open onto a paved patio and a large lawned garden; a beautiful spot to sit and relax, admiring the ever changing vista. With a refreshing beverage in hand and your favourite book, drink in the views in the company of your loved ones. There is an array of wildlife enveloping you, with foxes, nesting birds and roe deer to name but a few. Boggle Hole is renowned for fossil hunting and rock pooling and the youth hostel offers a superb café, where you can sit with a coffee watching the waves roll in. Stroll to Robin Hood's Bay of an afternoon and enjoy the delightful amenities it has to offer. You can also spend a day discovering the abbey at Whitby and castle at Scarborough. This is a superb retreat for an enjoyable family holiday. South House Farm holiday cottages takes pride in helping sustain the environment within the North Yorkshire Moors national park. With support from our guests, we can help maintain South House Farm holiday cottages as a green tourism business.Our first step to looking towards a greener future was to update the domestic sewerage system to a biologically and environmentally efficient system some years ago. Following this change we continued to incorporate the sustainability concept by installing a bio mass boiler. This replaced the old system of individual oil fired boilers that had previously provided heat for the cottages and the farmhouse. More recently, we reduced our carbon footprint further by installing solar panels, which now help provide us with low cost, low carbon electricity for our family and guests - we export any surplus to the National Grid. Another project which has evolved over the last 20 years at South House Farm is the natural organic approach we have taken to the surrounding farmland, which over time has provided a habitat for a plethora of birds, small mammals, insects flora and fauna which can be enjoyed by all our visitors. A more ambitious plan of ours for the future is to expand our facilities to encourage cyclists to visit and enjoy our beautiful county. We hope that these small contributions within the business will help you appreciate your surroundings more and that you support our green ethos for South House Farm.
