This detached, 18th century barn conversion is situated on a farm in the countryside, on a large open complex and rests within the rural hamlet of Bottomhouse, on the outskirts of Ipstones. This heart-warming getaway offers a wonderful space to relaxing of an evening after exploring the breath-taking Peak District National Park and its surroundings. Retaining ambience and charm, this cottage offers well-equipped accommodation with beams and views over rolling countryside. The ground floor consists of a separate well-equipped, fitted kitchen, a welcoming sitting room with a solid oak dining table and solid oak flooring, leather sofas and a wooden open tread staircase, and two shower rooms. As the evening draws to a close, head up the staircase to find three delightful bedrooms, consisting of a family bedroom with a double bed and a single bed, and a double bedroom, each offering a bright and airy interior to wake up to each morning. Spend a moment or two within the garden area, where you can rustle up some summer treats upon the BBQ before dipping into the bubbling hot tub. If you don’t feel like cooking one evening, make your way to the local restaurant which enjoys a superb dining menu and a welcoming atmosphere to match. Moreover, Bottomhouse is classified as an Environmentally Sensitive Area for wildlife preservation, and many fine walks can be enjoyed, including a 12-mile walk through the owners' land over Ipstones Edge. Other attractions include The Tissington Trail, Alton Towers, Chatsworth House and Dovedale, each can be found within close reach. Curlew Barn promises a refreshing stay for the entire family to enjoy Staffordshire and its surroundings.

Located on the western fringes of the Peak District, the attractive rural village of Ipstones is set in moorland countryside between the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne. The village itself offers a post office, village shop and pubs serving food, although other amenities are available close by. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking and offers miles of woodland trails and moorland hikes to enjoy. Dovedale and the limestone Churnet Valley are within easy driving distance and the Manifold Trail is also close by. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and the National Trust's Lyme Park - used in the television adaptation of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' - are all easily accessible, as are the National Trust's Ilam Estate and Blackbrook Zoological Gardens.

Reviews

This was the break we truly needed! We visited in February and what a breath of fresh air this break was! 6 girls break away from the hustle and bustle of working lives. The owners were fabulous in taking care of our every need, we were aware that coming away to the countryside we had to research which place to visit however Henry was great in advising top quality locations and restaurants for me and my friends to go to. The roaches and walk in Illam were great spots to visit. The cottage was perfect for our hot tub nights in taking in the landscape around us! And to mention, what a view! The cottage was perfect that my friends took it in turns to cook and the rest of us could relax in the other half of the cottage watching TV and playing cards. Would highly recommend to anyone who is wanting that break away and to relax in peace and enjoy the open space!
