Reviews

Booked here last minute as couldn’t find anything else. Paid just over £500 for 3 nights (only stayed 2) nothing much to do in the area at all. Pictures make it look like it’s in the middle of countryside but it’s far from it. Some pubs and a kids park about a mile away. Bed was quite uncomfortable (single bed squeaks terribly) and no proper grass for kids to play on, stone stairs dangerous for little ones. Our house is a lot better to be honest. Only 1 parking space, we had 2 cars so just had to park very close behind 1 another. Definitely NOT worth £500 odd. Neighbours weren’t happy with us going on their lawn (did not know it wasn’t for no.11) House inside was nice, clean and tidy. WIFI good. Would not recommend this place though as not much to do and is right next to a housing estate so definitely not what we thought we were paying for.

We arrived here on a Saturday, in less than 24 hours our vehicle was stolen, taking my livelihood with it. When the crime was reported to Lancashire Police we were told this area is a vehicle crime hotspot. The next-door neighbour has had 2 vehicles stolen in the last few months. Many neighbours have CCTV. No wonder! We booked with Sykes Cottages, and when we informed them, they were of no support, their attitude was completely indifferent. When we called the owner and told her, she couldn’t have cared less. She said they had considered putting in CCTV but Sykes said it may discourage bookings. Due to being targets of crime we left early and minus a work vehicle. Two of my team had to catch a train, to our office 5 hours away, Sykes offered no support but spoke to the owner who said if the remaining team member left straight away she would give us £50 back, for the two nights lost. This is after her being told this has cost my business in the region of £8,000 On the bright side for the owner if we left early, she wouldn’t have to take a day off work to prepare for the next occupants !!!!Yes, that’s what she said. Both the owner and Sykes are only interest in making money, their attitudes were appalling. Sykes staff very rude and indifferent. The details saying ample parking for 2 cars. There is not. Do not risk staying here.
