Reviews

We arrived at Ty Bach to hear our distraught neighbour (adjoining holiday accommodation from same owner & also let via Sykes) on the phone to the owner. Their accommodation was not clean and had used masks left in it... So, we entered our accommodation with trepidation. Unfortunately, our accommodation was also not clean and certainly didn't meet the deep clean/covid safe standards as advertised. We found the floor sticky and dirty. The kitchen had food splashes up the cupboards, food debris in the oven and cutlery draw, plates were dirty and food spillages in the fridge. The lounge area’s furniture (tables/chairs) were tacky, a build up of dust on landing. The bathrooms had greasy smears on the shower screens/mirrors (as if wiped with a dirty cloth), a lot of dust, a lot of hairs and sticky urine on bathroom facilities. The owner’s daughter visited and was hostile. She accused myself of being ‘funny” with her and told me that she didn’t need to be there and was doing me a favour. She told me they were using a really good cleaning company but they were expensive so swapped to a cheaper cleaning company who was ‘a bit hit and miss’. I was told she would try to organise a cleaner for that night but as mobile signal was so poor, she would leave and call me. She never called me back. When I called the owner, I was told that it was clean as he had been there at lunchtime and insinuated that I was lying. I felt that the owner or his daughter could not grasp how concerning unhygienic accommodation during the pandemic was to us. The only vague recognition was when the daughter misheard me and thought I had said that we had covid, she got angry and said that she had a young family. She couldn’t grasp that panic was how we felt when we entered this dirty property. We tried to call Sykes at 7pm. Sykes state is 24/7 support. This is not strictly true. Out of hours is an answer machine, I left a message and no one from Sykes called back. By 8.30pm we drove and brought cleaning products. It took us two and a half hours to clean. I am disabled and the experience really impacted our holiday, the next day I was ill with fatigue and pain. I just wanted to go home by Sykes would not give us a refund. I sent the 30 plus photos to Sykes of what we found when we cleaned and it took 3 days to resolve and a lot of phone calls to Sykes. A few other issues with the accommodation. The double beds mattress is uncomfortable, you will feel the springs as it’s only a thin mattress on mdf board. The en suites are compact and you will have to lean on the sink to sit on the toilet! There is no Wi-Fi hub, this property just has a Wi-Fi booster connected to the adjoining holiday accommodations Wi-Fi. So, the Wi-Fi speed was between 1-4mbps. We were lucky that we had a lovely family in the adjoining holiday accommodation. But as the only usable outside space is very open to adjoining accommodation, if you didn’t have quiet neighbours it would impact on your holiday. The accommodation is high up The Great Orme, the access road is very narrow and if you have a large car or have bad weather, it may be an issue. The positive is that the location. It made exploring North Wales easy, local restaurants are stunning, do watch sunset at the west beach in Llandudno. On a positive, we had an issue with the showers and the owner via Sykes had an electrician visit on the same day.
