Keswick is a popular town resting at the North of the Lake District. Within the town you will find a selection of shops and restaurants, as well as miniature golf, parks, the Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities. Within the surrounding area you will find challenging hikes up Skiddaw and the Catbells, whilst Bassenthwaite Lake offers a gentle stroll.
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
I have been holidaying in the Lake District all my life and I can honestly say that this 14th century farmhouse was the best experience of all these. The cottage details can clearly be found on the Sykes website, but this impression given, in my opinion, is far from complete. The skill set of the owner, Yolandi, to make you feel at home is quite quite special. In terms of relaxation, sitting outside Shepherds Cottage eating breakfast, with a view of Derwentwater and watching walkers climb up Catbells before completing the walk yourself is quite unique. I could go on and on, but would be concerned that it may become impossible to book again because of its incomparability. Having said that, I have already booked it again for 2022, so will be fine for another year.
