Hearty feasts can easily be prepared in the well-appointed kitchen, while the dining area provides ample seating for all the group to gather during mealtimes. After dinner, delight in the refreshing sitting room, with a sofa and an armchair, enjoying a family film before heading to bed. With a king-size double and single bedroom, this cottage is perfect for a family of three. The sparkling family bathroom is complete with a bath and shower over, so you can choose from an indulgent soak in the tub or a quick shower to prepare for the day. Enjoy a cold beverage as you sit out in the lovely courtyard, benefiting from a south-facing aspect which catches the sun. If you don’t fancy cooking then there is a traditional pub opposite the property, The Swan Inn, which serves good local food and ales. The area is popular with walkers and cyclists with plenty of footpaths and pretty country lanes to explore, particularly around the Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park. Not far from the cottage is the county town of Taunton which offers many bars and restaurants, along with a range of shops worth browsing. You can also find Hestercombe Gardens just outside Taunton town centre, or why not venture further afield to Dunster Castle which boasts spectacular views of the Bristol channel, the Quantock hills and up to the moors of Exmoor. Boo Cottage is a delightful base for those looking for a slow pace-of-life in this unspoilt part of the country.

The bedding unfortuantely had a number of stains and some black hairs. There was also significant dirt/dust/insects under the bed (which is a location the owner advises to place suitcases/baggage etc). We approached the owner to discuss this and initially were advised he would deal with the matter. However, what followed was very dissapointing. The owner sent me a message the cleaner had sent him from holiday to advise her relative had cleaned the property and that there were no obvious issues, although she did say the sheets were cleaned but do have stains. Following this the owner requested pictures, which l did send. This back and forth was taking place on a Saturday evening after a 5 hour drive. The owners reply was that he couldn't really make out any issues from the pics l sent (the pics were downsized due to being sent via a messaging app) and that there was "a bit of dust" for which his cleaner has apologised. So, an obvious reluctance to address the issue and clearly as guests, we were made to feel as though we were being unreasonable and dificult for wanting clean bedding. I myself to hoovered not wanting sleep 2 feet above thick mass of dust that has been left for quite some time. A day later no clean sheets had arrived, and so l contacted the owner again. The clean bedding was brought to the property on the Monday, so 2 nights after we had arrived. I have never stayed at a property previously and felt the need to raise any issues. My experience of making a simple and polite request to this owner was clearly an issue for the owner, one example being one message they sent using capital letters stating the sheets ARE clean. Unfortunately neither the cleaner who's message he sent me, nor the owner had actually seen the sheets when they were fitted, and to acknowledge there maybe stains but ignore the fact this could be problematic and should have been replaced before guests had to acknowledge this aswell as the cleaner was quite staggering. Only postive is the great location and an ideal base for exploring Somerset. This could be a lovely place if it was treated to some TLC and a professional owner who cares about the property and the guests paying to stay.
