Hosting two super-king-size bedrooms (zip/link), together sleeping four guests and served by a family bathroom. There is a fitted kitchen and an open-plan living room and dining area with a woodburning stove. Outside has an enclosed patio area with furniture, as well as off-road parking for two cars to the rear. Allam Cottage is a wonderful choice for a rural break to this wonderful part of Durham.

We had a fantastic week at Allam Cottage. It was beautifully furnished and was lovely and warm during our Autumn stay. If you enjoy cooking, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. It’s only a few minutes walk into town and there were fabulous dog walks right from the door. The owners left us an amazing welcome gift which included freshly baked scones and jam - absolutely delicious. We are planning to visit again next year. Barnard Castle has some lovely little boutique shops and lots of places to eat. An ideal place to spend a relaxing week.
What a wonderful town centre find. Thoughtful owners who have tended to all the details and were readily available for any enquiries though also not intrusive on our stay in any way. Beautiful decor (even better in person) and incredibly clean. A true home from home with all the amenities of town just a walk away, yet also endless countryside walks on the doorstep without the need to jump in a car first. Would return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. (Oh and dog friendly, which is a rare find for this level of accommodation!). Thank you for your hospitality!
