Reviews

This is our 2nd time at Phoenix House, first time was in July 2022, but we forgot to leave a review. But needless to say we returned as we had such a great time the first time. We came here at the end of May 23 for the kids half term for a week. Lovely spacious property we came as a family of 8 and the modern property catered for all our needs. Lovely outside space for the kids to play football and rounders, and boules. My daughter also bought her scooter and had hours of fun, Scooting round the outside of the house on the decking. Great wifi for those with teenagers. Hot tub was great and we made good use of this daily. We did a Tesco order to be delivered on the night we arrived to save us bringing the food with us, which was very handy. We had days out In Ledbury, Upton on Severn and also visited Malvern on the way home. Johnny, Pam and family were great hosts as they were before, and nothing is too much trouble for them, if you need anything. We will definitely return again as this has everything we needed for a relaxing family holiday.

This is possibly one of the nicest country breaks we have had as a family. The setting was incredible, surrounded by sheep and alpacas and lots of fields to explore. We were fortunate enough to visit during lambing season so the children loved walking down every morning to see if there had been any new arrivals overnight. The hosts Pam and Jonny could not do enough to make us feel welcome, nothing was too much trouble and any questions we had were responded to immediately. The electrics went in the utility and Jonny had an electrician around immediately and was hugely apologetic - stuff happens but key for us in in how the hosts respond and Jonny couldn't have been any nicer. He brought alpaca food over for the kids to go and feed them too, which was an absolute winner. The hosts also recommended fab restaurants to visit (the Inn at Welland was our favourite) and British Camp had incredible views (if a little windy the day we visited) but absolutely stunning. The hot tub was an added bonus, best we've had and Jonny checked the levels every day for us. The inside space was amazing, particularly for two families sharing, enough space to be together and little separate seating areas (all comfy) when we fancied time away from the kids. A little bit of luxury in stunning surroundings with incredible hosts, what more could you want? We will definitely be returning.

We stayed at Phoenix House in order to celebrate my Dad’s 70th birthday. We excitedly went to what we expected to be a 5* luxury celebration as a party of 10. After the first morning whilst one of us was in the downstairs bathroom, liquid began to bubble up from the drain and flood the bathroom and the bedroom so they had to run out of the room mid shower. We later found out that leak bubbling up through the shower was SEWAGE. At the same time two showers were being used upstairs and both cut out of all water, one of us had a head full of shampoo. Whilst some of us waited dripping wet kettles of hot water had to be prepared and any utensils to help shower us off. Dyno Rod was called and they explained that there was an issue with the cesspit that it had been built too far away from the building and it would cost the owners an estimated £25,000 to rectify. Otherwise DynoRod could help with a temporary fix but this sewage issue could happen again at any time. We were out of running water for a number of hours. Miserable we went out for the birthday lunch we had booked. On our return they had managed to get the water running. However, as the hours passed the sewage stench became stronger and stronger and we had no option but to leave the cottage half way through our paid stay. We also had 2 young grand children that we were very concerned could touch or consume something contaminated and become very ill. At the time the hosts were horrified and profoundly apologetic they brought a rug to cover the sewage leak and offered a full refund or free long weekend to make up for it. The day after we left we discussed the matter as a family and were not comfortable about visiting somewhere with sewage issues so would like a refund. They refused our calls. We tried to deal amicably via Sykes Cottage. However they refused a refund, denied they’d ever offered it and invited us to commence legal action if we would like our money back. All in all the worst 70th birthday and mini break we have ever had. We were shocked by the hosts super sweet behaviour until we asked for what was promised. There are many luxury stays available - we would not recommend spending your money on this one.

Phoenix House in the black pear county is in a beautiful spot with the backdrop of the Malvern Hills and surrounding Worcestershire Countryside. Ample space inside and out for family gatherings. Our family of 3 generations enjoyed a wonderful time in this fabulously converted tractor shed. Johnny & Pam were friendly, helpful unobtrusive owners. Truly generous hols accommodation with loads of nearby lovely places to visit if you can tear yourself away

I cannot recommend Phoenix House highly enough. We were a family of seven adults and one very active toddler and spent three nights here. I wish it could have been more. the house offered everything we could have hoped for to a very high standard. The open plan design of the living, dining and kitchen area is ideal for a large group. Even in October the sun room was warm and relaxing. All the fixtures and fittings you could wish for were there and the hot tub was superb. The garden area is secluded and ideal for children to play in and it leads into 10 acres of fields where you can roam. The sheep enjoy being fed apples, supplied by the owners who live next door. The location speaks for itself. Well done Pam and Johnny, friendly and helpful hosts.
