Reviews

Stayed at this cottage during aug bank holiday week and really enjoyed it. 3 adults and 2 children. The cottage is clean and comfortable. A welcome basket of local food (teabags milk eggs Welsh cakes cheese and chutney) was appreciated and the beds were made up and comfortable for our late night arrival. The cottage is well located and within easy reach of beaches and local attractions. We visited Llandudno, Abergele beach, Colwyn Bay beach, Abergele leisure centre and Chester zoo during our stay. My young children (3&5) enjoyed walking through the country roads of the farm to say good night to the animals in the evening. The kitchen is fully equipped. There’s a small freezer compartment in the fridge which is more than enough for a family week away. There is a tumble dryer available for shared use as well as efficient central heating and a clothes airer in the cottage. The shared area also has a selection of games and DVDs available to borrow. We also left some extras that we bought with us from home to add to the collection. The en suite bathroom has a HUGE waterfall shower and there’s a large bath in the family bathroom. Only tiny things that could be improved, altho they didn’t negatively impact on our holiday in any way, not enough teaspoons for a heavy tea drinker. And only 4 placements for a 5 bed cottage. Thank you to the owners for providing lovely clean and comfortable accommodation for our summer holiday. Add a hot tub and you would have the perfect 5* break.

The owners were tremendous, helpful and friendly. They took the time and trouble to explain about the farm to us. I have never met nicer or more accommodating owners. The location is perfect, near everything and far enough to be in the country. I cannot recommend this place enough.

The accommodation was clean and very modern and the welcome pack of goodies and essentials was a lovely surprise. We were welcomed and shown round the property and told if there was anything we needed just to give the owners a shout. Highly recommended

Most superb, met by our lovely hostess and shown round. In the kitchen we were met by by a lovely welcome basket of lovely Welsh foods. Can't fault this holiday property at all.

The cottage is a lovely barn conversion with a well laid out and comfortable interior. The location is nice and rural but only a few minutes drive to local amenities. The owners had provided a nice welcome pack including wine, bara-brith and some lovely home made chutney.

Fantastic location, away from the hustle and bustle, it enables you to experience Welsh farm living. My daughters loved seeing the horses, Shetland pony, the calves and Snowy the farm cat. All this helped to make the stay more memorable. The cottage is lovely, just as it looks in the pictures; we all relaxed easily and it felt like home from home. The owners were really helpful and left a welcome basket of goodies which was well received. The cottage is a great base to explore the North of Wales and is handy for the A55 which takes you to the coastal resorts. I am already recommending this to friends.

Stunning location, really felt like we got away from it all. Farm based cottage which enabled our daughters (aged 6 & 8) to see the horses, Shetland pony, calves, sheep and Snowy the farm cat which added to the memories. The owners were really helpful and left a welcome basket of welsh goodies which was well received. When the weather was sunny we were able to sit out in the front garden (individual patio with picnic table and shared grass area with other cottages) and play ball games on the grassed area. The local beach is a 2 mile drive away and the cottage is an ideal base for exploring North Wales as it is close to the A55. The cottage was like home from home and was really comfortable and finished to a high standard. Three bedrooms, two with double beds (one ensuite) and a single room, plenty of space for us all. Kitchen is well equipped with dish washer and washing machine, dining area and comfortable sitting area. This was our first visit to Wales and we loved it. Much quieter than the Lake District and stunning scenery. We would love to return as there is much more we want to see and I am already recommending it to friends.

One of the loveliest holiday's we have ever had. The Family who run the cottages and adjoining farm were very helpful. Our daughter loved the Farm Cat "Snowy" and also seeing all the other animals. It is slightly off the beaten track as regards to location, and the phone signal for us wasn't too great (Orange network), but to be honest we booked a holiday to get away from it all and having no signal most of the time and being a 10 minute drive from local amenities meant we had some peace and quiet. The Cottage itself is beautiful, and very well equipped. We also had a lovely welcome basket on arrival with lots of little welsh luxuries. We will be returning.

We hired the two adjacent properties for a week at the end of July. The cottages were just right for our family of eleven. The children's ages were between one year and fourteen. The open plan design was perfect for group dining and the barbecue facility was handy too. We were made very welcome on arrival with a delicious basket of local goodies. The cottages were well appointed, tastefully furnished and very clean with comfortable bedrooms If there is a downside it is the fact that there is only a tiny patch of grass outside the cottages and a rather bleak looking patch of concrete.

We had a fantastic holiday. The cottage is beautiful and is surrounded by lovely countryside. It is situated in a remote area away from the towns and villages, but only 10 minutes to the nearest town for Tesco's.

We loved the location and ambience. Our hosts were lovely and very helpful. The cottage was cosy, very clean and comfortable, and it suited our needs perfectly. Our daughter loved the farm animals, especially watching the calves being fed.

Excellent hospitality. Peace and quiet. Plenty of space. Very accessible to places of interest in North Wales. One of the best places we have stayed in and owners are to be congratulated.

Rated by Mr Beresford reviewed on 17th June 2013

The owners have converted this property to a very high standard. It was beautifully furnished and decorated, luxury accommodation. The farm is in a peaceful location but only a few miles from lovely beaches and the coastline of Colwyn Bay and Llandudno. There was a lovely welcome basket left as well full of local food. All in all a fantastic holiday and we will definitely return.

Rated by Mrs Dickinson reviewed on 9th June 2013

This is a great family cottage with everything you need. A fantastic welcome basket waiting for us, with local produce, as well as a warm welcome from the owners. Everything about the cottage was to a very high standard - the shower in the ensuite was particularly good. We stayed in March so saw lots of lambs, and even got to help bottle feed a couple. The location is very convenient - just 5min from the coast, but with a remote feeling. We visited The Welsh Mountain Zoo in Conwy, Bodnant Gardens and on a wet day found a great playbarn in Old Colwyn. March is not the best time for the beach but there are lots nearby. The owners live next door in the farm and were very helpful. We'd certainly think about going back again.

Great cottage well positioned for visits to most attractions in Snowdonia.

Rated by Mr Ryder reviewed on 20th May 2013

The cottage was in a peaceful location. Llandudno, Conwy, Snowdonia were relatively close by so we didn't have to spend too much time travelling by car. This is the third time we have used Sykes Cottages and have always been impressed by the high standard of the properties.

Rated by Mrs Brindley reviewed on 24th April 2013

The property owners, who lived in the farm next door, could not have been more helpful. We were invited to help feed the baby lambs and calves one evening. The property itself was one of the best we've stayed at - we would highly recommend it and will probably go back again.

If you are looking for a well appointed cottage in north Wales in a relaxing setting, look no further! This is a comfortable cottage with everything you could need. The welcome pack is a lovely touch from the very friendly owners. Children will love being close to the animals.

Beautiful cottage, excellently equipped. Lovely family who have done a fantastic job of renovating this barn conversion.

Rated by Mrs Thorpe reviewed on 15th August 2012

The cottage itself exceeded our expectations.

Rated by Mrs Graham reviewed on 8th August 2012

We had a fantastic stay here, it was very quiet considering we were right next to the working farm. The family kindly left us drinks and food on our arrival which is always a nice touch. The overall appearance of the cottage was great and had a warm, homely feeling to the place. Would highly recommend. Having a car is recommended as you're in the middle of the country! I would go back in a heartbeat!

Rated by Mr O'Neill reviewed on 27th July 2012
