Low limestone hills, marshy plains, and deciduous trees are the dominant features of the area around Arnside, which is located near the southernmost point of the Lake District and is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Several of the historical elements of this former fishing harbour still exist. Arnside's picturesque pier and port areas give breathtaking views of the Kent Estuary and serve as a constant reminder of the town's historic past. The Pele Towers, which were built in the 15th century to protect against roving Scots, are located to the village's south.
