Two bedrooms: 1 x double with kingsize bed and TV, 1 x twin. First floor bathroom with bath and shower over, basin and WC. Kitchen with dining table. Sitting room.WC ground floor.
Teign Cottage is a pretty detached cottage just a short stroll from the Teign estuary and slipway and within a level walk of the village of Shaldon. Arranged over two floors is cottage is a perfect spot for a family getaway in a beautiful seaside village. To the front of the cottage there is an enclosed terrace which is perfect for watching the world go by whilst enjoying an alfresco meal in the warmer weather. Inside a comfy sitting room complete with electric flame effect fire is a lovely relaxing space to hunker down after a full day exploring. Across the hall is the bright kitchen/dining room brimming with character along with a breakfast table to sit round and plan your next adventure. Up a steep and winding flight of stairs is the first floor with two cosy bedrooms, a twin and a double with river views plus there's a neat bathroom. Shaldon is compact in size but packs a range of shops and pubs, explore the small Zoo or venture through the smugglers tunnel to discover Ness Cove. Alternatively hop on the pedestrian ferry to Teignmouth (or travel via the road bridge), a regency town and busy port, to discover the pier, tennis courts and other seaside attractions. Further afield the coastal town of Torquay (7 miles) or the cathedral city of Exeter (15 miles) offer a more big town experience and each can easily be reached via the mainline railway station in Teignmouth. Teign Cottage is a unique cottage in an incredible location and can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Very disappointing accommodation. All I can assume is the promotional photos were taken a very long time ago. This beautiful thatched stone cottage desperately needs a deep clean and major refurbishment. On opening the front door, we were met with a strong odour of stale cigarette smoke combined with cheap air fresheners, presumably placed to (unsuccessfully) mask the odour. On returning home annd unpacking, all of my clothes had absorbed this disgusting smell and needed to be washed before I could put them in my cupboards or wear them. All of the worktops, windows and other surfaces were filthy. Dust and cobwebs were everywhere. The fridge was tiny and iced up on arrival. Cups hanging on hooks were filthy. The washing machine didn’t spin, the drier didn’t dry, the toaster only toasted one side of the bread. There was only ‘free view’ on the TV. No Sky, Netflix, Prime or even a DVD player. The log burner in the kitchen was chained up and the fireplace in the lounge had a fake log burner (electric convector heater). There were no drawers or hangers in the twin bedroom and wire hangers in the main bedroom. The house was furnished with cheap, very poor quality furniture that was mismatched and dirty. It was like entering a junk shop! This beautiful cottage deserves to be loved, restored, refurbished and maintained with care and regard for its history. Instead, it has been abused, exploited for gain and badly neglected. This cottage is definitely not suitable for children, elderly, infirm or disabled clients, as the floors are very uneven and the stairs are extremely narrow, steep and almost spiral.
