This dream 17th century cottage in the pretty village of Troutbeck has been lovingly restored, ensuring that none of its traditional Lakeland magic has been lost. South Stonethwaite Cottage is located at the head of the village, close to the fabulous Queen’s Head and with wonderful views across the valley. For a small party looking for the quintessential country cottage, there can be no finer property than this. The cosy, dual aspect sitting room is at the heart of the property. An open fire, comfortable furnishings and pretty views make this somewhere you won’t want to leave. A door leads from here into the charming, landscaped garden. The kitchen is simply stunning. Large and airy, with a slate floor and granite worktops, it is equipped with everything guests could possibly need. French doors open on to a pretty south facing balcony with seating and gorgeous views. Where better to enjoy a lazy weekend brunch with the papers? Two lovely bedrooms are on the first floor, again beautifully appointed and the epitome of country charm. The larger room has a super king size bed which can be separated to make two single beds, and the second room has a double bed for one person. The house bathroom is equally pretty, with bath with shower over, basin and wc. This romantic cottage could not be better situated. The lively villages of Ambleside and Windermere are close by, while there are many quiet walks to enjoy from the doorstep.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip.
