Reviews

Cilfach Cottage exceeded all expectations. Perfect for six adults with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Fresh chicken eggs available from the chickens on site and a wood burning stove sets the ambience for the Cottage. Hosts Decia and Keith live on site and provide a wealth of knowledge to the area. They also help with the wood burner (thankyou). It's really relaxing, in the country, but on the edge of Llanfyllin. Fantastic views across the country side and eating breakfast while watching woodpeckers and other birds on the patio was unbelievable. Walks start from outside the Cottage with George's Walk and the Lonley tree. Short drives to Lake Vyrnwy and Pistyyll Rhaeadr ( tallest waterfall in Wales) are must do's along with the many walks over the valleys right on your doorstep. We will go again. One of the best places I have stayed.

A first class holiday cottage on the edge of the North Wales National Park. There was lots to visit in area and the owners of the cottage were very friendly and helpful.

Where to start? It's a great wee cottage. The lovely owners (Decia & Keith) live on site & provided some nice wee extras to get our holiday started, from food goodies (inc fresh eggs from the chickens on site) to loads of info on things to do, places to eat etc etc. The house itself is immaculate, well stocked & has everything you could need. It has a great garden for the kids to play in, the chickens ! plenty off road parking, and is within easy walking distance to the local village and its shops, pubs, restaurants & more. Our local favourites were Something Tasty (great pizza), Eagle Fish & Chips and the Stumble Inn & Green Inn pubs. Visits to nearby Oswestry, Welshpool (swimming & Steam train) & Lake Vyrnwy were great. Further afield are Aberdovey, Portmerion & Chester. The weather could have been kinder, but when it was sunny, the garden is a real sun trap. Overall, a huge recommendation from us for this cottage, a real wee gem in a lovely part of the world. We'll certainly be back to Wales & may well return to Cilfach sometime in the future. All the best.

The location was excellent. The cottage is in a quiet area and only a five minute walk to amenities. There are walks from the cottage front door and guides to local walks were provided in the cottage. The accommodation was FIRST RATE in all respects, the attention to detail was excellent. Would go again.

The cottage was excellent and worked well for us as a family as there was so much space. The cottage was ideal for our needs and the owners were really helpful; nothing was too much trouble for them. The location was superb; giving access to so much beautiful scenery within short drives. We had a really good, relaxing holiday in a beautiful cottage. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Cilfach is a genuinely exceptional holiday home. It is very well equipped with excellent bedding & furnishings and was spotlessly clean on arrival. We visited in November/December when the weather was poor but the house was very warm and cosy. Overall, we thought Cilfach was the most comfortable holiday home we have visited. The location on the edge of the village is ideal. The immediate surroundings are very peaceful and rural but it only takes a couple of minutes walk to reach the village shops. The owners who live nearby were very friendly and helpful.

Cilfach is simply gorgeous. The location at the edge of the village is ideal, it feels like you're in the country but shops and services are within a couple of minutes' walk. We visited in winter and found the cottage was very warm and cosy. The standard of décor, bedding and furnishings was very high and the place was spotlessly clean. There is a lovely garden with beautiful views. There is loads to see and do in the surrounding area and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

When we arrived, we were made very welcome by Decia and Keith. The Cottage is beautiful, spotlessly clean and spacious. With everything you need, for your stay. Very good for some degree of disabled people too. A special touch of a lovely fruit bowl and home made biscuits, were given. And lovely fresh eggs to buy, from their own chickens. The surroundings are Beautiful, very central for lots of places to visit. The people of Llanfyllin were Very helpful and friendly.

We really enjoyed our weekend in Clifach cottage. The cottage was very well looked after and clean. The whole cottage was very well furnished, well decorated and of a high standard. A very lovely place for us to spend some time relaxing. The surrounding area was beautiful, and we were really grateful for the tourist leaflets left out for us to look through and plan what we might do whilst we were there. Thank you for a great weekend.

A light, bright airy and spacious house. It was a pleasing combination of modern and traditional with a real cottage feel. It had everything we needed and more. There were fabulous views and plenty of privacy. The house is out of the way and slightly elevated, yet is only a 5-10 minute walk to the centre for shops and pubs. The owners were welcoming, helpful and accommodating, thank you for a wonderful stay!

A beautiful, spacious cottage, tastefully decorated and furnished in neutral colours to achieve a bright and airy feel, yet still remaining cosy, retaining some character features and a cottage atmosphere. Large Velux windows and a perfectly located conservatory make the most of the wonderful views of the garden/patio and valley beyond. Cilfach has everything you need to make your stay a comfortable one - thick carpets, a well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge with a wood burner, 3 dining options (if you include the patio area), several bathrooms and fantastic showers, to name but a few. Traveling with young children, these were our highlights - plenty of space to have messy kids mealtimes in the kitchen, a conservatory which conveniently doubled as a kids play room/games room on rainy days. A safe parking area as well as a secure garden for the kids to run about in. Chickens to feed on site. Squirrels and Woodpeckers in the garden. Walking down to the town through the ford/weir and saying hello to the fairies under the bridge as we passed - magical. The beds were comfortable and the master bedroom had plenty of floor space to put a travel cot/toddler bed without compromising on space at all. The range in the kitchen was easy to use and cooked beautifully, and helped to keep the house warm on cool summer evenings. It was a real pleasure spending the week here and the owners were very helpful and accommodating without being intrusive. I would highly recommend!

"Cilfach is a home from home; it contains everything you could possibly need for a holiday. There were chickens in the garden and it was possible to buy eggs from the owners who live adjacent to Cilfach and were very helpful. The surrounding setting and subsequent views from the conservatory were wonderful. We also loved the log burning stove in the lounge."

Rated by Mrs Clarke reviewed on 28th March 2015

The cottage was well equipped, warm and the fixtures and fittings were of good quality. The crockery and cutlery etc supplied were more than adequate for the number of guests at the cottage. The owners were very helpful and friendly, but kept a discreet distance. They were on hand to answer any queries.

Rated by Mr Taylor reviewed on 4th February 2015

The cottage proved to be a very welcome retreat. It was delightful, a very high standard, warm and comfortable. Excellent management and really nice welcoming touches. This is by far the best self catering cottage we have stayed at in Wales.

Rated by Ms Fenard reviewed on 29th November 2014

The cottage was excellent and very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful without intruding and gave lots of advice of places to visit. The area was lovely and we always found the people everywhere very friendly. Did not do as much walking or touring around as usual as we had our young grandchild with us but hope to visit again and explore further. The weather was good for the time of year and everyone had a relaxing break.

Rated by Mrs Frary reviewed on 11th October 2014

The house was stunning, it provided us with the most comfortable holiday we could ever have expected. The hospitality of the owners was outstanding; they were friendly, informative and helpful. The house was immaculately clean and stylishly furnished. All bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen etc were spacious and thoughtfully equipped. To be honest, I could go on and on about the positive side to this property. I would, without hesitation, recommend this property for your holiday. I and my party would certainly return there.

Beautiful cottage, lovely feel to it, spacious and bright with good quality furnishings and utensils. Well kept garden area with picturesque views. Having three bathrooms was great. All amenities available to suit our family gathering. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed at.

This cottage is superb. It's spotlessly clean and the owners are really friendly and helpful. Our group's age range was from 21 to 84 years and the owners seem to have thought of everything you may need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We had a wonderful week.

Rated by Mr Meachin reviewed on 7th June 2014

We were met by the owners as we arrived who took us around the cottage, it was beautiful and extremely spacious. The thing I always look for when I go on holiday is the cleanliness of the place I am staying in, and I have to say it was absolutely spotless. The cottage was very well equipped, with extra little touches there too. 3 big bedrooms, 3 big bathrooms, a very big living room with a very big conservatory, and a huge kitchen as well. We loved this gorgeous Eco friendly cottage, and will definitely be going back sometime, thanks to the owners for making us so welcome.

Rated by Mrs Bellfield reviewed on 27th May 2014

Cilfach was fabulous. There was plenty of space for all of 6 of us. It's in a lovely friendly small town with several pubs and shops. The surrounding countryside is glorious, as are the views from the conservatory at the cottage. We'd love to go back again.

I really hope we will get back there soon. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Rated by Mrs Munro reviewed on 19th February 2013

I stayed in the cottage with five other guestss & we were all blown away by the place. The location was superb, just 2 minutes walk from the local town with a good choice of pubs & restaurants. Don't be put of by the weir that you have to drive through to get to the cottage its a bit scary driving through & you're not sure if your going the right way at first. The cottage itself has plenty of room to live in & all the rooms are clean & well decorated & furnished. The cooker is a log burning stove which takes a bit of getting used to at first but once you get the hang of it you'll be OK. I suggest a practice run first. The owners were really friendly & made us feel very welcome. I would definately stay here again if visiting Llanfyllin

A pleasant neat and comfortable cottage in picturesque surroundings. As it is approached via a ford, there could be the occasional vehicular difficulty! Cooking was an experience with a wood burning aga.
