Reviews

We recently came back from the cottage and I must say it was absolutely wonderful. the cottage is modern and very cosy. everything was catered for and the owner's are lovely people. We only stayed for 3 nights but have booked to return next year. we have stayed in some lovely accommodation but I must say this was one of the best. Our dog was made very welcome from the owner's and even his needs were catered for. I really cant say anymore only positive feedback. The flowers and biscuits were a lovely welcoming gesture. I would 100% recommend this cottage to anyone. The surrounding area provided lovely walks and the views are spectacular. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

The best cottage I have stayed in. The location was excellent. The owner had gone above and beyond what I would expect. The cottage was very clean, smelled lovely and was warm. If I go back to the peaks I will be staying here again.

We liked the freedom to come & go but the knowledge that the owners were just a knock on the door away. It is perfectly situated to get anywhere in the White Peak area and there was lots of info in the cottage about walks & activities. A wonderful quiet base to come home to & relax.

Rated by Mrs Boyes reviewed on 16th July 2016

The Barn was beautifully decorated, warm and the furnishings were lovely. The underfloor heating in the shower room was a lovely touch. We also loved the flame-effect fire and the reclining seats on the sofa. After a long day of walking in the Peaks, Swallow Barn was a warm, cosy, welcoming place to come back to. The owners were very friendly and helpful when we asked for some local information. The view from the barn is stupendous. We were sad to leave Swallow Barn and look forward to returning one day.

We liked the location and the cosy and homely feel of the cottage. The courtyard and conservatory was an added bonus.

Everything was great, the cottage was really lovely, plenty to do lots of great walks. You don't even need to drive any where for a good walk, but if you do there's lots to do, small towns close by if you fancy a bit of shopping. It was just great and I no the dog had a good time too.

Rated by Mrs Crawshaw reviewed on 31st October 2015

A lovely cottage; incredibly well-equipped, beautifully furnished and very clean. In a good location with nice local walks, but close to the A6 so it was easy to go and visit other places. The landlady couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We had a fab holiday and would happily recommend Swallow Barn.

Rated by Mrs Baghapour reviewed on 29th August 2015

There was a relaxed atmosphere around Swallow Barn. The owners were most helpful and had taken a great deal of time to leave information on eating places, places to visit and the best of all places that accepted dogs. Also supplied were a comprehensive list of DVD's and CDs for rainy days. This was our first visit to Swallow Barn and we have booked to go again at the end of August.

Rated by Mrs Linton reviewed on 21st June 2015

We stayed for 4 nights and it was delightful. We took our dog Charlie and it was perfect for walking him first and last thing each day as the location was stunning. We walked to the local pub, which took about 15mins where Charlie was made very welcome, we ate there one night and found the food to be home-made and enjoyable. The accommodation was amazing, the owners had thought of everything, to be honest it was more like a hotel with towels, bed-linen, kitchen full of everything needed including condiments and the local information inc. walks and places to eat was really helpful. We even had tea/coffee/sugar/water/milk/biscuits and a vase of fresh flowers waiting for us. The location was rural but near to all the places that we wanted to visit, nowhere was far away, we were extremely pleased with our choice.

Rated by MICHELLEIpswich reviewed on 15th June 2015

The owners had thought of everything with lots of local information provided which was very much appreciated. Overall it was a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

Rated by Mrs Norman reviewed on 26th May 2015

Cannot praise this conversion too much. Everything was spot on. The owner was friendly and helpful and the location was ideal.the decor was tasteful, the sofa was huge but really comfortable. The TV reception was excellent and the DVDs player worked, which we found unusual judging from past experiences. Brilliant

The conversion was really well done and the facilities were excellent. The owner was both helpful and unobtrusive. Well worth the money.

Rated by Mr Douthwaite reviewed on 8th November 2014

Great location - a secluded hamlet yet minutes from facilities. Although a small property, it makes excellent use of the space, there was plenty of room for two of us. The owner shows great attention to detail - the information packs were the best we've encountered. Special mention to the slow cooker; just the ticket after a bracing autumnal walk.

Rated by Mr Coles reviewed on 30th October 2014

First impressions count and this place was spotless. The view from the sitting room is stunning and the location is ideal, being far enough off the main road to be silent. This really is one beautiful place to stay and its location being halfway between Bakewell and Buxton is great for easy access to some lovely places. Go - you will not be disappointed!

Rated by Mr Clarke reviewed on 14th September 2014

Just returned after a weeks holiday with my wife and our dog. This is really the most fabulous place to stay. The owners Tina and Paul have thought of everything to make sure you have a great holiday. Nothing has been missed of the list! We will certainly be returning.

The people where very friendly helpful and accommodating the countryside was stunning .

Rated by Mrs Middlemiss reviewed on 20th August 2014

This was an exquisite property in a lovely area. The owners have been so thoughtful and generous in the way they have equipped Swallow Barn. We particularly appreciated the amount of helpful information regarding walks and places to visit and the welcome gifts of biscuits, milk and flowers. We enjoyed the numerous footpaths direct from the barn and that there were so many places of interest within very easy driving distance. It is important to us that we can take our dog when we holiday in the UK. He was welcome at Swallow Barn but also at many pubs and tearooms in the area. And he was allowed to enjoy the gardens at Chatsworth!

Excellent base for walking holiday in the Peak District. Most well equipped cottage we have been to plus a few extras; milk, chocolates and flowers and also dog biscuits, bowl and lead. Enjoyable stress free break.

We liked the cosiness of the property. It was lovely to return to after a day out. The owner was available and helpful when needed. The location was quiet and peaceful, with great walks from the barn and easy access to the A6.

Would definitely return here. The lovely owner was very helpful, and had included comprehensive information about the area. Everything to make your stay comfortable. Reclining leather sofa, CD/DVD/TV, well equipped kitchen which even had a slow cooker. Garden is mentioned; there is a small enclosed courtyard, but didn't spot a garden.

Swallow Barn really exceeded our expectations. The cottage has been decorated and equipped to a high standard. A lot of thought has gone into the details, such as folders of information on the area, local walks, places to eat, etc. The kitchen was well equipped. The comfortable recliner sofa was lovely to relax in during the evenings, and the central heating and log effect fire kept us warm and cosy. The beds were very comfortable with duck down duvets.

The cottage has everything anyone could possibly want. What a wonderful holiday. Walks from the front door, ours ended in the two good pubs, one at the end of the road, the other in Taddington both serve good pub grub, and the beer is nectar. We have several cottage holidays, this one is far ahead of all the others. Brilliant. We will be back. We wanted to stay forever.
