Location Details
Herne Bay is a popular seafront town boasting a shingle beach, promenade, memorial garden, and the world's first freestanding purpose-built Clock Tower dating back to 1837. There's lots of classic seaside cuisines to sample, including fish and chip shops, bakeries, and two ice cream parlours. Nearby is Canterbury, a popular city with an array of historic attractions, museums, galleries and theatres, as well as pubs, boutiques, restaurants and riverside boat trips. Another town worth a visit is Whitstable, a lovely cobbled harbour town famous for its regular Oyster festival. Herne Bay is a spectacular holiday destination to discover the Kent coast.
Kent is affectionately known as the Garden of England. Its history and heritage provide the region with a rich array of sightseeing possibilities, while the stunning choice of Blue Flag beaches offer the chance to enjoy the beautiful coastline.

We enjoyed our stay at Swallow Cottage very much. The cottage is a mid-terrace house in a historic residential building area which was a workhouse and hospital in the early 19th century. The cottage was just perfect for the two of us, enjoying two individual bedrooms for a perfect sleep in cosy beds. Please note to bring your own tea towel (and a coffee maker if you need one), apart from this, there is everything you need, including a private parking space. The bus stops to Canterbury and the seaside are just around the corner. The nice pub "The Curious Cat" is a 2 minutes walk away, it offers very good food and a warm atmosphere.
