A sought-after off-road parking space greets you upon arrival to this charming dwelling, leading you along a short path to a lovely seating area, perfectly positioned at the front of the stone-built cottage, inviting you to take a seat with your loved one to soak in the breath-taking views across the picturesque countryside. Kick off your walking boots as you step over the threshold, where you'll be charmed by the remarkable open-plan living space, beautifully-appointed with high ceilings and slate flooring, featuring a contemporary décor complimented by eye-catching splashes of colour. The rustic wooden kitchen was intricately handmade for the purpose of the cottage and is fully-equipped with all of the necessary amenities required to rustle up a meal for two, inviting you to serve at the dining table to indulge in your culinary delights as you plan your next adventure. When sleep calls, head through to the adjoining bedroom to rest your head, thoughtfully laid out with a nautical blue colour scheme and boasting a sumptuous super-king-size bed, offering a handy zip/link feature for flexible sleeping arrangements. In the morning, prepare for a new day with an invigorating rinse in the stylish family bathroom, before heading out to explore your surroundings. Take the short stroll into the heart of Lynton where you can spend your time browsing the fabulous exhibitions of artwork on display at one of the many galleries, or discover the towns exciting maritime heritage at Lyn and Exmoor Museum. Avid walkers can join the South West Coast Path atop the dramatic cliffs towards the Valley of Rocks, a craggy dry valley formed overtime by coastal erosion, boasting panoramic views across the marvellous sea and homing quirky mountain goats that wander the rock faces. Board the highest and steepest water-powered funicular railway and visit the twin village of Lynmouth, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the scenic harbour, or along the shingle seafront at Blacklands Beach, stopping at The Ancient Mariner for a delicious home-cooked meal on your return. Lace up your walking boots and explore the delights of Exmoor National Park, a charming landscape of moorland, woodland, hills and tumbling rivers, hosting a plethora of scenic routes to discover, suitable for a range of abilities. The charming village of Combe Martin is within easy reach, home to over 28 acres of spectacular gardens at the family-run Wildlife & Dinosaur Park, where you can meet the friendly sea lions, or thrill seekers can partake in a lion feeding experience, and after working up an appetite of your own, treat yourself to a spot of traditional Devonshire afternoon tea at Combe Martin Bakery and Tearoom. Further afield is the picturesque seaside resort of Ilfracombe, where the coastline is beautifully decorated with golden sand, including the private and secluded waters of the world-renowned Tunnel Beaches, aptly named after the tunnels that were hand carved in the 19th century to gain access to the unique tidal pools. If you'd prefer to stay on land, test your swing at Ilfracombe golf club, perfectly positioned on top of the rugged cliffs, offering panoramic views of the dramatic coastline, or tour the 11th century Chambercombe Manor, thought to be haunted by the ghost of a ship wreck victim. Make memories that will last a lifetime with a stay at Ferndale. Note: This property can be booked with ref: 1065802, together sleeping up to six guests.

Reviews

Ferndale greets you with a big WOW as you step through the door. What a fantastic place to stay for a week. It's absolutely immaculate, with bags of space and everything you need from a home away from home. It's got a well equipped kitchen, a spotless bathroom, and a comfy bed the size of a small country. The owners even provide eco-friendly cleaning materials and toiletries which I hadn't expected. The entrance even gets the morning sun, and so you can enjoy your coffee outside with a fabulous view across the valley. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. The location is wonderful - it's just a 5-10 minute stroll away from Lynton with its selection of shops, eateries (The Oak Room, Charlie Fridays, and the Thai buffet at the Old Cottage Inn are particularly good), and art galleries. It's convenient to walk into Lynmouth if you fancy the exercise there and back (it's a very steep hill and a great workout), and if you're interested in exploring north Devon it's within 45 minutes' drive of places such as Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Putsbourough Beach, Ilfracombe, and Barnstaple's Tarka Trail for cyclists. We'll most definitely be back.

Ferndale is an ideal spot to explore the wonderful views and attractions of Lynton and Lynmouth. Great walks along the coast paths and into the valley of the rocks with excellent views of the sea and rugged coastline of north Devon. We enjoyed Lynton visiting the some of the many options for coffee shops and restaurants with several visits to Lynmouth with the wide variety of local shops and attractions. The charming Cottage catered for everything, with modern decor, furniture and facilities including a very comfortable living room and bedroom. The location was peaceful and relaxing with good views of the forest and valleys. Thank you to our very helpful hosts, we will be back again soon!

A friendly welcome to an immaculate, comfortable and stylish apartment. Well equipped with lovely valley views, a perfect location for exploring Lynton, Lynmouth and surrounding countryside. Stunning coastal and riverside walks directly from the apartment and a wonderfully comfy bed which was much appreciated after a days hiking! We will visit again soon!

We booked this accommodation for a week and wished we had booked for longer. The location of this property is amazing. A short ten minute walk to all amenities. Shops, restaurants and pubs. The little cinema is a must to go to. Lots of lovely walks especially the one to the valley of the rocks. The owners Paul & Wendy were very friendly, always available to help with anything that we asked them. I wanted to take the big comfortable bed home with me but that was not going to happen. Excellent weeks stay and we will be returning again in September.
