There is a utility with a washer/ dryer, a cloakroom and snug room with TV and woodburning stove. The bedrooms consist of a super-king-size with en-suite, two kings with en-suites and a twin bedroom, along with a bathroom. Outside there is an external dining room with woodburning stove, an enclosed garden with furniture and off-road parking for four cars. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price. Sorry, no pets and no smoking at the property. Within 1.3 miles there is a shop and within 0.2 miles there is a pub. Check-in is from 5pm and check-out is from 9am. The Vicarage is a stunning home retaining lots of period features.

The Vicarage is quite simply an outstanding property. We were so impressed with it that we decided to book again and returned within six months for another week. It deserves its five star rating. Every room boasts an impressive view as it occupies a prime spot. The decor is gorgeous - the beds are so comfortable and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need. It’s spacious, yet cosy, and it’s always seems to be just the right temperature. The log fires are delightful. We like the area very much because it offers peace and tranquility with all the drama and beauty of the lakes, fells and mountains - but you have the option of shops, cafes and supermarkets within a 20 minute drive if you need it. As you can imagine there are plenty of walks from your doorstep. In the past we have been disappointed with the cleanliness of some rentals but not here. It is spotless and the housekeeper is worth her weight in gold to manage such a big property so well. As we’ve been twice and took too many ‘just in case’ items with us the first time I can advise that you can arrive confident that they have all the equipment you need. We are a family of health nuts so the smoothie maker and air fryer came along but that’s just us. They provide enough logs to make your initial fires but obviously you need to get your own for your stay because utilising the three log burners was a favourite pastime for our family. To be honest I’m loathed to write such a glowing review because it jeopardises our chances of finding a free week for us in the future! I can highly recommend The Vicarage as I’m super fussy and we will definitely be returning for a third visit if we can get in.
