Location Details

Clay Cross is a small village near the Peak District National Park's boundary. There are numerous shops, taverns, and superb restaurants in the town. The old market town of Chesterfield, which serves as the gateway to the Peak District and has much to offer visitors, is only a few miles away. The town's 14th-century church is known for its "Crooked Spire," which twists strangely from its actual centre, and the town's regular hectic market days are great for visiting the many diverse speciality shops and stalls that line the old Market Hall and lovely Shambles beyond. Queens Park, with its boating lake, footpaths, and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre, are all located in the town.

We stayed at the Loft at the George from 12 August to 19 August. The whole experience was first class. The apartment was spacious modern and comfortable. The welcome pack was both comprehensive and generous. Our host, Craig was friendly and accommodating. We were very happy on both the occasions we used the George restaurant, especially our final night when we were celebrating our granddaughter's 10th birthday and our meal was excellent. Finally Clay Cross was an excellent centre for exploring the Peak District and we were able take in a variety of activities from kayaking to zip lining and treetop experience.
