Book a property every year this was the biggest we have stayed in ,only 12 of us but fantastic so different quirky, rustic full of character and history . The owner met us and gave us a tour and told us the history of the house and showed us how things work . Bonus was the annexe which has massive TV in the cinema room with all sky sports ,and sleeping for ten. if you had loads of kids they would never come out of there . Great hot tub and the beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept in . Great walks down the Leeds Liverpool canal and a pub ten mins away

We had a great experience staying as a group of friends at Fernhill Castle - something really a bit different & quirky. The hosts met us upon arrival and were extremely welcoming, friendly & knowledgeable giving us lots of details regarding the house. Plenty of space, really comfortable beds with each room having its own individual character. A great property to enjoy with a group of friends or family in a beautiful location.

The location of Fernhill Castle is absolutely stunning, it is surrounded by beautiful views. The castle is surprising warm and cosy to say it is so old, and it has a lovely feel to it. The rooms are quirky and there is a lot of character throughout. All the beds are very comfortable, even the sofa beds and everyone slept well. We had a 1920's themed night and a murder mystery night, which the dining room was the perfect space for. The coach house is a wonderful addition, with more sleeping accommodation if needed, a huge dining area and cinema room which came in very handy to watch the football. Any questions I had regarding our stay, Michael was always quick to respond to and deal with, which was very much appreciated. All in all, we had a fantastic weekend, and would recommend to family and friends.

The perfect setting for a fun and relaxing weekend with friends and kids. Beautiful historical house with lovely features and lots of grounds to explore. The hosts couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. Would definitely recommend. We’ll be back again!

We stayed here for 3 nights in October with my bridal party in the castle and groomsmen in the annex (18 in total). We met Briony on arrival and she showed us round the castle and gave us all of the information we needed. The castle is breathtaking and pictures don't do it justice! The annex is really cool and felt like such a fun sleepover space! We had an issue with the electric going off one morning and called Michael who helped us sort the issue in no time. We had the best time and everyone loved staying in such a beautiful place. It really made our wedding feel like such a longer period than just a day! They offered fine dining experiences, afternoon tea, shooting and lots of activities that we could of booked! We had the best time and would love to go back one day! Our deposit was also given back in full a week post leaving the castle. Couldn't thank Briony & Michael enough!

CAUTION!! Stayed there with a group and paid the initial £1000 deposit as requested. While we were there we had a great time and everyone was very respectful and took care around the property. But as soon as we left the problems started. The owner accused us of various faults that had nothing to do with us. We left everything in the same state we found it yet we were accused of breaking things we didn't even know existed. They refused to pay us back for weeks and eventually took hundreds of pounds off us for something we did not do. Looking at Google reviews this seems to be a trend with the owner. Seems we were lucky to get anything back and others have not got a penny back. Be careful and consider other options! The stress is not worth it.

The house itself is fine, lots of beds but only 3 showers and a handful of toilets. However, (as many other reviewers have also experienced!) the owner tried to keep our £1000 deposit that he made us pay directly to him, for things that were already in bad form when we arrived. BEWARE!!!

The property is nice - not as polished as we were expecting. The bad review is due to the owner asking for a £1000 deposit and it's been a nightmare to get it back. He contacted us with a list of problems that were already present when we arrived! We have received half but are still waiting on £500.... go elsewhere.

I booked Fernhill Castle early February 2023 for a weekend stay in the middle of June 2023 to house a group of 20 of me and my close friends in celebration of my 21st birthday. Although the website includes a range of photos to portray the general vibe this property radiates it still doesn't do it justice. When experiencing the premises for the first time it magnifies a sense of disbelief and bewilderment that doesn't leave you throughout your stay. The property allows guests to immerse themselves in a beautiful and characterful home with ecstatic interior that preserves internal history. Speaking on behalf of 20 obnoxious and smart-aleck 21 year olds that you simply cannot get bored rather intimidated by the endless activates provided. The location is submerged in the secluded countryside so when you aren't focussed on the castle you are captivated by the view. The only downside of Fernhill Castle is departing from the property as it is very quick to feel at home here. I don't think I could recommend Fernhill enough as an option for any occasion. Whatever the occasion you choose it will not disappoint and can cater to all needs. The owners are lovely and are a text away for any further queries you need answering. Wanted to thank you Fernhill team for making this experience unforgettable.

We try to go away as a big family group every year, but as the family grows finding a lovely place that can fit us in is a challenge. Fernhill Castle delivered. The drive up is as grand as you'd hope and rabbits and deer could be seen as we neared the building . On arrival Michael gave us a great tour and a snapshot of the history. It is a VERY old building but very comfortable and whilst we were there we didn't miss any modern conveniences. The lovely hot tub was popular with the kids and adults alike. As a family we had an amazing and memorable time and the generous hamper that was left was greatly appreciated! An absolutely amazing touch that was included was a visit from from a caterer (Just Graze they were called) who supplied us all with an absolutely beautiful cooked breakfast! From American pancakes to Eggs Royale and even chicken and waffles. There was something for everyone and every taste! Went down a storm! It's incredibly well situated with Malham Cove 30 minutes and Bolton Abbey less than 20 to name just a couple. So yes, absolutely loved the place! Well done for saving a stunning piece of history and sharing it with everyone!

Fernhill Castle manages to achieve a perfect balance between quirky style, historical atmosphere, and home comforts. It's worth noting that while the owners prefer its original name of Fernhill Castle, on most maps it's now known as Farnhill Hall. The interiors are amazing, the views to die for, and the extensive grounds are an adventure in themselves. The location is also hard to fault, rural, but in easy reach of everything the Yorkshire Dales have to offer. The owners are helpful and friendly, and offer a selection of on-site extras via a 'virtual concierge' service. We were there for my wife's birthday, and had cocktail classes, a private chef, and afternoon tea. All were great - my wife is partial to afternoon tea and declared this the best she'd ever had. A truly unique, enchanting place!
