Reviews

Entry for parking tight over deep step and onto back of mainly derelict buildings. Hard to get out because of big lip to ease up over onto road. Had to find gravel to take up the drop to give tyres purchase. 2 small mirrors to help on post opposite. Both dirty. Loads of fluff and dust under beds. Plastic bottle and tissues under mine, which was horrible to find. Dog hairs and debris under sofa seats, and seats have springs in which I found were uncomfortable. Kitchen nice, well equipped, but food crumbs in drawers and many baking sheets and pans greasy with burnt debris under bases. Had to wash everything we used first. Bathrooms are ok. We had heavy rain and water poured through lounge windows so much we were catching it in tubs and had to remove window seating. Also ran in through snug wall which is an internal wall. Voicemail left. No response from owner. Dog poo in garden which previous owners should have cleaned up. Garden obviously not checked, and needed attention Couldn't open small bedroom window as guttering overflows straight onto window ledge and water comes in. Windows and frames dirty. Yes, a quaint traditional cottage with character. Wonky walls and floors, (not a rug or carpert anywhere in the place, just floor boards which feel very dodgy in some places. Would not return. Would not recommend. Spoilt our break.

The cottage was all we hoped for and more. So comfortable with thoughtful items provided - waterproof OS maps, books of walks, netflix, logs and kindling, coffee pods....... I could go on. The cottage is much bigger than I though and the pictures don't do it justice, which was a welcome surprise. The bed was comfy, the shower was excellent and loads of fluffy towels.... We ate twice at the Anglers Arms, just up the road, they served decent food at reasonable prices, don't be put off because it looks a little tired.
