Spend the day at one of many English Heritage sites within this picturesque area; Brodsworth Hall and Gardens give you an insight into Victorian life, preserving the 1860s hall and gardens where you can roam the grand grounds before stopping for a light lunch in the pop-up café. Other notable English Heritage sites are Mattersey Priory the 13th century remains, and Roche Abbey, the magnificent ruins set in a stunning valley, carefully landscaped as well as Gainsborough Old hall in Gainsborough itself.
