Location Details
This historic port town in Essex is located at the mouth of the River Stour. Harwich, which borders Dovercourt, has a variety of amenities ranging from convenience stores to harbourside restaurants, one of which is named after the famed diarist Samuel Pepys, who was the town's MP in 1679. It also has a variety of interesting buildings, a golf course, and a sandy beach to keep you entertained during your stay. Clacton-on-Sea, a popular seaside town with a beach and pier for a very English day by the sea, is only 15 miles distant.
The Home Counties comprise the counties that surround London and include Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex. Although mostly built up, they include some fabulous scenery and attractions which are well worth a visit.

We visited Harwich for a long weekend in March. The cottage is beautiful, with everything you need and more. Best nights sleep I've had in years! The local shop, a two minute walk away had everything we needed with great opening times. Harwich had so much to offer we ate at the pier hotel, visited the local pub and enjoyed walks around the local town, Harwich really is a treasure of a town with friendly residents. The Hapenny pier is a historic must see. Love locks, hot chocolate and an amazing view of the shipping boats. The local hot dog van is a must!!! We walked along the beach to visit Redoubt fort and the lighthouse. A long weekend wasn't enough to enjoy this beautiful town. We could of spent all weekend in the cosy cottage alone. We have booked again for the summer to take a trip on the foot ferry and experience the seals. 10/10 driftwood cottage and Harwich.
