Alston 4.5 miles. Tucked away in Nenthead, Cumbria, near to the bustling town of Alston, is this contemporary end-terrace cottage, Tree Tops. Sleeping up to six guests in a spacious property, Tree Tops is ideal for a family or group looking for a getaway in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the North Pennines. Upon entering the cottage, you are immediately greeted by a bright and airy kitchen/diner, containing everything you need to host a dinner party for friends or family, including a lovely corner couch with a rustic wooden table, double electric oven and Smart TV for entertainment; start the woodburning stove and ease your feet on the underfloor heating after a long day of exploring. With dinner done and dishes in the dishwasher, retire to the peaceful sitting room just next door for a film night. Heading upstairs, Tree Tops has three double rooms with storage space for hiking gear or your best going out clothes, as well as a bathroom featuring a large walk-in shower and free-standing bath for a refreshing end to the day. Back on the ground floor, the French doors in the sitting room lead to a quaint patio with Tree Top’s spectacular stone wall as a backdrop, whilst you enjoy your morning coffee on the picnic bench. The cottage is just around the corner from a shop, where you can stock up on the essentials, whilst wandering around the quiet Nenthead, which also has the fascinating Nenthead Mines for guided trips underground, the village also hosts The Hive - a converted Weslian Chapel that now is a wonderful licensed cafe, art gallery and craft shop, serving amazing food, cakes and drinks. For a more bustling village, Alston is a short journey away, with pubs, restaurants and cafes to enjoy, historic cobbled streets to explore and local specialities to try. A little further south west lies Melmerby, a small village at the foot of the Pennine scar that boasts picturesque views, winding streams and sits at the edge of Eden Valley for spectacular walks. Just beyond Melmerby, you will find Penrith, a busy town known for its impressive 14th century castle, Roman Museum houses to discover local history and plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, fishing and canoeing, as well as cinemas, leisure and cultural centres. Resting on the edge of The Lake District, you'll find ample opportunities for walking and watersports. Perfect for exploring a wonderful area of Cumbria, Tree Tops offers a memorable trip with your loved ones.

Set in the North Pennines in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Alston is quaint town surrounded by a spectacular variety of landscapes. The town is England’s highest market town, with cobbled, winding streets to explore, and was the location for ITV’s Jane Eyre and Oliver Twist. There is an abundance of unusual shops, locally made specialities and historic 17th Century stone buildings; it’s no wonder Alston inspired the work of many artists and writers.

We stayed for 3 days at Treetops as a family of 4. We were lucky with sunshine and after a long drive through beautiful landscape, arriving at Treetops was a treat. The house is immaculate with everything we needed to hand. We were delighted with the open plan design and the many homely touches made it easy to spend time as a family. A great log fire and the kids were equally as delighted with the tv! There are beautiful walks from the door, a small playpark close by and within a short drive there lots of things and places to visit, including nearby Alston for many amenities. We recommend visiting Ashgill Force waterfall. Thanks Treetops for a lovely few days away.

Just returned from a relaxed weekend away at Treetops with friends (3 couples). Property and location are amazing and far exceeded my expectations. Treetops is a well appointed modernly refurbished cottage style property with amenities you’d expect from a high end villa abroad. Underfloor heating throughout the entire ground floor, modern combi boiler for central heating upstairs and ample hot water for multiple showers daily, double sided wood burner (including full wood shed) , 2 full sized fridge freezers, range cooker, dishwasher, fast WiFi , large shower and separate roll top bath. All three bedrooms are equal in size so no fighting for the “better” room. I can’t think of anything that was lacking. Location is ideal for short trips out in the car or walks nearby. Restaurants , pubs and cafes nearby and food delivery available from a few local establishments. We will definitely be rebooking.

Had a wonderful time at this amazing cottage. Came with 4 other friends to celebrate one of our friend's birthday. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very cosy. The beds were extremely comfy. One of the best places we have stayed in. The log burner is such a bonus. Had a wonderful walk to the waterfall on the Saturday, the start of which is roughly a 10 min drive in the car. Lovely surrounding countryside. Was fantastic. Nenthead is a lovely little village too, would definitely recommend The Hive - cafe and gift shop. Amazing selection of delicious lunches. We will definitely be coming to stay at this lovely cottage again. Thanks

A gorgeous ‘home from home’ in the beautiful countryside the house had everything you could wish for and more and was beautifully presented throughout. Little extra special touches made it feel really luxurious. We especially enjoyed the gorgeous log burner and family open plan kitchen lounge area. Stunning scenery with walks and cycle routes directly on the doorstep. A definite place to revisit!

From walking in the front door you can instantly see how well presented the house is. It's beautifully decorated and equipt throughout. The bedrooms are all great sizes and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom is a nice size with a great double shower. The kitchen allows for the family to be together while your cooking and chatting. Relaxing in the evenings with the log burner completes a perfect day. Treetops is a great place to stay and I'll be returning again. This will be my go to place if ever I'm visiting Cumbria.
