Tal-y-bont 0.9 miles. Located in the small village of in Llanbedr-y-Cennin near Tal-y-bont, Conwy, Conwy, is this lovely, traditional Welsh cottage,Yr Hen Efail, or The Old Forge. The 400 year old farm forge is nestled on the slopes of Pen Y Gaer, the smallest of the Carneddau range of Mountains, within Snowdonia National Park. Many footpaths weave through the ancient woodlands and into the mountains. It is a great base for walkers, birdwatchers and is a mere 4 miles from Bodnant Garden. After parking in the off-road parking space, adjacent to the outbuildings on the right, follow a footpath through the garden to find The Old Forge tucked away and surrounded by luscious greenery, where inside an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area immediately welcomes you; Full of character, the cottage has wooden beams, red tiled flooring and an inglenook fireplace with a woodburning stove for extra warmth on colder nights. The kitchen is small, yet well-equipped with an electric oven, hob, microwave and fridge with an ice box, so you can prepare a romantic meal for two with ease before settling into the armchairs for a film night. Upstairs, you will find a super-king-size bed with plenty of storage space and a TV, so you can have a lazy morning watching your favourite shows, before getting ready in the en-suite shower room; warm your towel on the heated towel rail whilst you freshen up in the walk-in shower. At the side of the cottage, you will find a private, multi-level garden with stone steps leading up to a small patio with outdoor seating, where you can have breakfast in the sunshine whilst you plan your day. If you fancy dinner out, the cottage is situated only 100 metres from Ye Olde Bull pub, with Y Bedol pub/restaurant, a butchers and Post Office shop for stocking up on essentials, at the bottom of the hill in Tal-Y-Bont There are also wonderful Welsh towns nearby to visit, such as the historic Conwy in the north, where you can discover the impressive Conwy Castle and Walls, the smallest house in Britain and the magnificent 16th-century Plas Mawr town house. Head south for Betws-y-Coed, home to a variety of tearooms and quaint cafés, as well as lovely walks to the Fairy Glen and Swallow Falls. For a classic Welsh coastal town, Llandudno is a short journey away from The Old Forge, boasting an iconic promenade, a long pier with plenty of cafés and ice cream stands, as well as the fascinating Great Orme Mines, the world's largest prehistoric copper mine. With plenty to explore in the local area, as well as a welcoming space to call home, The Old Forge is a beautiful property for peace and quiet.
