Many historic sights, like the interesting Jedburgh Castle Jail and Mary Queen of Scots House, may be found within a short distance, as well as award-winning, family-run restaurants. The Teviot, Tweed, and Jed Rivers offer superb fishing, and there are 21 top-notch golf courses to pick from. The Borders also provide some excellent opportunities for walking and cycling, including through the majestic Border Forests and along St Cuthbert's Way, a 62-mile trail that connects Melrose and Lindisfarne and passes the Harestanes Countryside Visistor Centre.
