Location Details

Sedbergh, pronounced Sed-Ber by locals, is an ancient market town in northern Dentdale, situated just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The town itself is full of narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs and boasts a famous school dating back to 1536. Its 12th century church has an olde worlde atmosphere and is also well worth visiting when looking to discover the town's history. Dentdale is often described as the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales and offers rolling hills and dry stone walls, whilst 14 miles away is the windswept moor of Whernside – the place where the rivers Dee and Rawthey converge. At the centre of the dale is the settlement of Dent, also packed with picturesque cobbled streets – some of which have existed since Norman times. There are three golf courses in the vicinity as well as tennis, riding, and fishing facilities. For those who prefer a peaceful day rambling through the countryside, the area is a walker's paradise.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Stayed at Knott View as part of a group to celebrate a friend's birthday. We wanted a retreat away from it all where we could spend some quality time together, and it fit the bill perfectly! Everything we needed was available, the setting is just gorgeous and we were even treated to snow! Will definitely stay again.

What can I say? Knott view was perfect for our long weekend stay for walking and exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Close to Cautley spout and surrounded by absolutely breathtaking views, Birks Farm is the ideal location for any keen walker, or those just looking to get away to the countryside. Knott had everything we needed for our stay; spotlessly clean and tidy, Knott View had a real homely feel. Lilly and Alan were so very welcoming, and it was lovely to stay on a working farm, seeing all the lambs in the field, watching the turkeys pottering round the yard, or just spending some time with their two sheepdogs. Knott was the perfect size for our family, but, having been shown around Brant and the newly refurbished Lodge on site, I absolutely would recommend any three of Lilly and Alans holiday lets for a stay. Will definitely be back soon! Highly recommended all round, and a thoroughly enjoyable break.

Beautiful location with fabulous views of the Howgills. Clean and comfortable cottage everything we needed, loved the sheep dogs on the farm just what we needed to de-stress. Will be booking later on in the year when the lambs arrive

My second time back at Knott View cottage and it was just as good as my previous visit! Stayed with a friend for 2 weeks and would definitely go back. The cottage was clean, homely and well-equipped for self-catering. The owners were very friendly and helpful with any queries we had. There are stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales and beautiful walks to enjoy the wildlife and lambs at lambing time! We would highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing escape!

We stayed here with a couple of friends, what a dump, No heating only oil heaters that you had to move around, the most dirtiest baked on food on all the saucepans and frying pan. The dead spiders and flies had been on floor for a long time. We like dogs but do not want them barking for the whole of your holiday. We saw dead sheep and carcass everytime we drove out of the cottage. I am not sure of the previous reviews BUT they do not sound like it was the same cottage.

We loved everything from the accommodation, walks, location, trips out & weather. We had the most wonderful week staying at Knott view surrounded by breathtaking scenery. There are beautiful walks locally around the farm & a lovely walk up to Cautley spout with breathtaking views. The lakes were an hours drive & well worth a visit. The owners were wonderful hosts & never too busy to stop for a chat. We will be going back for 2 weeks next year. I can't recommend this cottage & location enough.

I would without a doubt highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing, enjoyable get away to stay in this modern, yet traditional barn conversion ( with views to die for.) The accomadation is conceniently situated between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Lake District.Me and my family managed to fit in several visitations which was only made possible b the owners of the holiday cottages as they supplied the cottage with many booklets and leaflets on recommeneded, top notch places to go! Although we visited many local places, we did enjoy staying on the farm as there was 3 very friendly, entertaining sheepdogs keen to play and entertain ou young children! There was also hens and turkeys roaming around, plus lots of gambling lambs! Our children really did get a look into what a traditional farm is like and they absoloutley loved it! We stayed for a week, me, my wife and our two kids and not one of us wanted to leave! The bedrooms were clean, modern and well equiped with all the necessities! The bathroom, kitchen, living room and dining room were all lovely! On a whole, the holiday cottage was a delightful place to stay and so was the other holiday cottage which was next door! The holiday cottage is surrounded by breath taking views and i recomend the cottages to anyone, families, couples, large goups of friends, anyone! We shall hope to go back next year as it is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in.

We received a warm welcome as soon as we arrived and were shown around both lovely cottages by the friendly owner. The smaller cottage is great for small families and the larger of the two is large enough to accomodate the whole party for meals and getting together if, like us, you take both cottages. There are excellent walks around Sedburgh and Kendal is only a 30 minutes drive away. Bookworms will enjoy a visit to the Town of Sedburgh which has many specialist bookshops. These cottages are both super places from which to explore this beautiful part of the world.

OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
