East of Exeter amid the lush green countryside, this small rural community is a nice break from the stresses of contemporary life. Nearly halfway between Dartmoor and Exmoor, and only 40 minutes from Exmouth and the stunning South Devon coast, it's the ideal starting point for exploring the region's numerous sights and sounds. The surrounding area is characterised by footpaths, fields, and an abundance of animals; several National Trust stately homes and gardens are nearby; and Exeter, the cathedral city, is only 18 miles distant.
