Great Broughton is a settlement in Allerdale and Broughton, Cumbria. It provides all you need for a self-catered stay near the Lake District, including a Post Office with village store, three pubs, and a Royal British Legion branch. With the River Derwent nearby, there are many coastal walks and rich terrains for walking. In Cockermouth, you'll find a wider range of amenities, as well as Wordsworth House and Garden, the former home of romantic poet Wordsworth. Here, you can tour the Georgian townhouse and wander the riverside garden that inspired him, where you'll find 18th-century vegetables, fruit, herbs, and flowers, as well as a flock of heritage chickens. Cockermouth has mediaeval castle ruins, lovely Memorial Gardens, and wooded gardens.
