Location Details

Ancient Glastonbury has been linked to the Holy Grail, King Arthur, and the Ley Lines for over four thousand years. The once-quaint town that became famous for its music festival is now a major destination for religious tourists and pilgrims, with a wide variety of interesting establishments catering to their needs. Glastonbury Tor, located on the Somerset Levels, dominates the town's skyline with its mysterious tower and is now cared for by the National Trust. The ruined abbey in the centre of town is a must-see if you're looking for a wonderful experience full of historic ambiance, calm, and tranquilly. Acres of pristine marsh may be found in Somerset, making it a home for a variety of birds. You could also go to the picturesque Cheddar Gorge or the tiniest city in England, Wells. Anytime of year, this place is a hive of activity and fun for holidaymakers.

Reviews

Stayed for a long weekend with the family (mix of adults, a dog, and 80+ mother). Good location, easy walk to the town centre, pubs etc. Old house with antique furniture, can be a bit dark in places but definitely has character. Two of the four bedrooms are a lovely large size; 3 of the 4 are ensuite. But beware of very steep staircases if you have young or old with you. Big downside is lack of easy or near parking - the property description suggests this is easier than it is - but you have to park up on double yellow lines outside to unpack - thereafter free parking is very limited on the street next to the house, so we ended up paying in the car park at the end of the road. There are residential streets across the road - if you are comfortable parking outside someone else's house - and even these were busy in October. We were also disappointed that there was no welcome pack of any sort (unlike most of Sykes' cottages), and the fire had not been laid as promised nor the logs, kindling etc topped up. Also the heating / hot water system is supposed to be simple and 'state of the art' (Google Nest) but everything was switched off and the thermostat kept shutting down - not sure it was working properly but may be a good idea to go equipped with You Tube to explain how it should work. Overall worth considering, a great location but with drawbacks on parking and not really a house for anyone with limited mobility.
