Location Details
Located at the head of Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales and home to a rare fish called the Gwyniad, a relic of the Ice Age, the lively market town of Bala is nestled within the picturesque Snowdonia National Park. Bala is the headquarters of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway and a popular destination for a variety of watersports including as fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, and whitewater rafting. The town has a rich history and is home to various unique stores, inns, and eateries, as well as a historical Town Walk. With the stunning Snowdonia Mountain Range to one side and the magnificent Berwyn Mountains to the other, this area is a paradise for hikers, bikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts. The Cambrian Bay Coast, including the beautiful six-mile-long Harlech Beach, overseen by its towering mediaeval castle, is easily accessible from this central position in Wales.
