Location Details
The northern shores of the estuary that flows into the River Duddon are framed by this small coastal town on the southern outskirts of the Lake District National Park. A replica of a drift mine from the city's iron and steel heydays can be seen in the Millom Museum, which also features exhibits on the city's history. A statue honouring the iron industry stands in the middle of town; it depicts "The Scutcher," the man who used an iron bar and his own strength to stop the iron ore tubs.
