Location Details

In Somerset, between West Hatch and North Curry, there is a little village called Wrantage that is not far from the Blackdown Hills AONB. The well-known Canal Inn bar and Bray's Cider & Farm Shop, which sells a variety of regional products, are located inside the hamlet itself, while more amenities may be found nearby Taunton, a riverfront town. There are many attractions in the town centre, but you can also drive to see the alpacas in Stoke Wood or walk to the North Curry Community Woodland for a nature-filled ramble. Some of the most popular attractions include the Museum of Somerset, French Weir Park, and French Weir Park. Those seeking a rural getaway will benefit from travelling to Yarcombe and making pit stops at Trull Waterfall, Castle Neroche, and Otterhead Lakes along the way.

Reviews

I'm a seasoned cottage holidayer, and stayed in some stunning places around Britain but this is the worst I've experienced. I booked Palmers Green Cottage for my son and daughter in law to stay in whilst they visited me from Australia due to lack of space in my own home (which is only 20mins away). I arrived prior to their arrival so I could stock fridge and cupboards with supplies. The place was filthy. Toaster still had breadcrumbs on top of it as if someone had just made toast, there were crumbs all over the counter top, the cooker top had dead moths, dust and dried spills, the cupboards were full of cobwebs and dead spiders (as were the windows and ceilings). The kitchen caddy which housed the dishwashing sponge and brush looked like it hadn't been touched in years.... Covered in cobwebs, dead spiders, and dead moths inside under the sponge. As for the bathroom, the bath had a long hair and dirt in it, the toilet had pee stains and public hair around the seat hinges, and there were used bars of soap on the basin and bath. The towels had bleach stains all over them as if they'd been used for hair dying. I understand if I rent a property that's dog friendly to expect there to be some degree of dust/dirt but the kitchen and bathroom are two areas where there's no excuse for lack of cleanliness. I informed the owners who live next door and was told it was due to the owner having cataracts and she couldn't see the dirt..... Sorry, that's no excuse. I ended up having my family sleep on my lounge room floor because they didn't want to stay there. I suggest to the owners they get professional cleaners in if they don't want any more complaints.
