The town of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, can be found just below Cleeve Hill, the highest point in the Cotswolds, and above the vale of the River Severn. "The Western Gateway to the Cotswolds" is a nickname for this area. Regency terraces, yearly festivals, a Ladies' College, and a racecourse give this spa town on the border of the Cotswolds an air of sophisticated elegance that is hard to match. There are also upscale stores and restaurants, a farmers market every other weekend, and beautiful natural scenery. Every year in March, Cheltenham Racecourse hosts the world-famous Cheltenham Festival, a four-day event featuring horse jump racing and concluding in the awarding of the Gold Cup. The Pittville Pump Room, a relic of Cheltenham's time as a spa town, is one of the city's most famous Regency buildings. The Wilson Museum houses some excellent works of art, and the Victorian Everyman Theatre features a lavish auditorium.
