Location Details

Between Morpeth to the south and Alnwick to the north, in rural Northumberland, sits the lovely village of Felton. The village is only 10 miles from Alnwick, which is known for its castle and famed Garden, which includes Europe's largest cascading water feature, a huge tree house, a rose garden, and an ornamental walled garden. The community has a shop with a post office, a coffee shop, a pub, and a restaurant. The castle is renowned for serving as the location of Hogwarts School in the "Harry Potter" movies. Alnwick has a good assortment of stores, bars, and restaurants, and there is a lot to see and do nearby, including miles of beaches with fine sand, numerous castles, and boat tours to the well-known Farne Islands. All in all, a fantastic setting for discovering Northumberland and its breathtaking Heritage Coastline.

Absolutely horrendous!!!! Would give no stars at all if possible! Saved very hard and booked this trip for a surprise holiday break for my husband, for his 60th birthday. Hi light of the holiday was the use of the hot tub, especially as we were travelling with my 19yr old daughter and 15 year old niece! Hot tub was broke for 2 days (half) of the holiday. We had to make several calls and send several messages to Sykes to get hot tub fixed, and they were even asking my young daughter if she could check fuses and power switches etc, to my horror!!! Owner (I assume as never said he was!) came on the afternoon of the 2nd day, and after messing on for a while, had to call an electrician out to rectify problem! I had told him it was booked for my husbands 60th birthday and he was very disappointed at not being able to use hot tub. He gave my husband £30 and told him to buy a bottle!!! Very nice gesture but not one that would make up for no use of the hot tub for 2 days when we were only there for 4, and boy do they charge!!! Spoke to a woman named Becky from sykes today who has to be the most obnoxious, sarcastic, lacking in customer service skills employee, ever to be in employment!!! I told her I was waiting to see what they were going to offer us in way if compensation for all the inconvenience we had incurred, and that I would put an honest review on website as I always do. She accused me of potentially ‘blackmailing’ to get what I want!!!! She said she spoke to owners and they thought the £30 they gave my husband for his birthday was ample, to cover for the inconvenience we had experienced. My husband asked if he could escalate the call and she point blank refused! I have never came across anyone so adamant to not be willing to help!!! We will never ever use this company again, and we are left devastated after such a negative experience, when we were hoping for some lovely memories for my husbands special birthday! They have lovely customer service skills until they have received payment, then it all changes and they are horrible! I would have recommended Becky to work in a zoo, where animals can’t be upset as easy as humans, then I think it would be totally unfair to even treat animals as she treat us! The lodge it’s self was nice but lived in and dishes and cutlery had to be washed before use! Pleasant surroundings but no luxury for big price tag!!!!

Booked this for a midweek break with Sykes holiday let's. Took over an hour to find due to wrong directions on Sykes website. The first night the boiler kept going off, we tried to contact owner via phone number in folder only to find number was disconnected. No wifi connection as stated on website. 2nd night gas ran out ruining our tea we were making...no phone number to contact so spoke to park warden who thankfully took pity on us and changed the gas bottle and said he would get manager to ring owners for payment...thanks for an understanding park warden..... Crockery had to be washed before using...all in all not a good stay!!! Very disappointed with Sykes feedback when I got home and reported this!!! They told me to contacts third party if I wanted the situation resolved!!! Won't be booking again!!!
