Location Details
On the northwestern coast of England, Blackpool is well known for being a seaside town. Located 17 miles to the northwest of Preston, the town is on the Irish Sea between the Ribble and Wyre estuaries. Since the middle of the 18th century, when it was fashionable for Englishmen to visit the coast in the summer to improve their well-being, Blackpool has become a popular holiday destination. Donkey rides, fish-and-chip shops, theatres, and other attractions may all be found along Blackpool's seven-mile long sandy beach and promenade. The Royal Lytham & St Annes Old Links Golf Club, one of the host courses for the Open Championship, is the most notable of the seven golf courses in the area, which is recognised internationally for golf. As well as award-winning restaurants, classic taverns, and wine bars for celebrations, the area also offers boating, cycling, shopping, swimming, and other outdoor activities.
