Location Details
North Yorkshire's Lythe is a serene village situated halfway between Whitby and Staithes. The settlement is home to the ancient Mulgrave Castle, which is located just south of the village, as well as St. Oswalds Church, which has Anglo-Saxon and mediaeval ties as well as a Viking burial place. The Stiddy, a classic public house that serves fantastic home-cooked meals, is one place to eat, while Lythe's Community Shop and Post Office are both great places to stock up on necessities. The well-liked seaside town of Whitby, which offers additional attractions and conveniences including the fascinating Whitby Abbey ruins, a kid-friendly beach, and a range of shops and restaurants along the River Esk, is conveniently close to the village. The scenic fishing community of Robin Hood's Bay is located farther south, while Middlesbrough, a larger town with family-friendly cultural attractions, is located north of Lythe.
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
