The Domesday Book makes reference to the historic parish of Brayton, a small but charming settlement that dates to Saxon times. There are a number of neighbourhood stores, a butcher, and a lovely town green in addition to a Norman church and an older Methodist chapel. The mediaeval town of Selby, a true hidden gem with an amazing abbey and a superb selection of eateries, is only a couple of miles away.
