Reviews

A lovely quiet location with a great view over fields, woodland to the sea on the east of the island. The property was spotlessly clean and well equipped as a holiday cottage. The owners were helpful and friendly offering advice about good pubs to visit, and places to visit. Nothing was too much trouble. A really excellent retreat, with good access to all the island.

The property was situated in a very peaceful setting where one could forget about everything going on in the world. It was very comfortable and the views were beautiful. We will definitely go back again.

The premises were all as described. We were welcomed by the owners and made to feel at home. Everything was first class and I have never before visited a cottage so well equipped.

If you want peace and quiet, 3 The Stable is the place to go. Lovely views. The owners live next door and were very helpful. Although we were next door, the garden was secluded so we never saw them. Would certainly recommend.

The cottage is great, great location, has everything you need and is spotlessly clean. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. We've fell in love with the island and will definitely be back - staying here!

We booked this cottage as our first family holiday with our daughter, 7 months old. We were going to book a caravan on a holiday park but after so many poor reviews we began to look at cottages. We spotted this cottage and due to the brilliant reviews we booked it, our only concern was whether it would meet our expectations - and it did! The cottage is great, great location, has everything you need and is spotlessly clean. Helen and family were very welcoming and friendly - we were so grateful of the travel cot, highchair and baby bath. Even the slight accident on the duvet cover didn't cause an issue, we felt so at home. We enjoyed exploring the island - we'd recommend visiting "the needles", the donkey sanctuary at Wroxhall, the steam railway, Amazon zoo, Rosemary vineyard - and if you're in Ventnor check out Golden Sands Cafe overlooking the sea for a great lunch at a great price. We've fell in love with the island and will definitely be back - staying here!

Rated by Miss Green reviewed on 30th December 2014

The property is quite comfortable and well-appointed, but our stay there was spoiled by problems we experienced with a faulty fridge/freezer and my complaint centres upon this and the attitude of the landlady and her husband in dealing with it. From arrival on Saturday 27th September 2014, this appliance had regularly made loud knocking/vibrating noises involving about 30 minute runs in every hour which made our time spent in the cottage very unpleasant. Mercifully, sleeping was not affected as we were able to block out the noise by fully closing the bedroom door. The fridge/freezer did function, but these ongoing noises were very intrusive and unacceptable which spoiled our evening “relaxing time” particularly because the cottage layout is an open kitchen/lounge design. When our first 24 hours had not seen a spontaneous improvement we reported the fault to the landlady, on Monday morning. She and her husband visited that evening but nothing was done about it until, on Wednesday evening the landlord offered us an engineers visit on Thursday morning during a “window” of 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.!! We were unwilling to get up earlier than normal just to await a possible repair visit when this could easily have been done when we were always out and about approximately 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. each day. We were on holiday, after all!! If this is an example of the service offered by their repair contract then perhaps they should negotiate a more user-friendly one!! On leaving the accommodation on Saturday morning the problem still had not been rectified and thus we had to put up with this during our whole holiday. We are very disappointed that this problem spoiled part of our holiday and that such an avoidable annoyance was not sorted out in a satisfactory and considerate manner. We feel that the owners should be more interested in the overall comfort of their tenants - it is after all a holiday rental!!

I loved the welcome by the owner, the cottage and gardens were beautiful. It was great to have the ponies at the bottom of the garden. It was our first time to the Isle of Wight and we are looking forward to going again.

Rated by Mr Roberts reviewed on 8th August 2014

The accommodation was very clean and well laid out, with all that one could ask for in the The view from the garden was wonderful, with ponies and the neighbouring farm's stock visiting. At night you can see the lights of passing ships on the horizon in places.

The property was excellent in every way. It was in a very quiet part of the island and the surrounding area was lovely. We would go back again.

Rated by Mr Crane reviewed on 16th June 2014

The hosts of the cottage were friendly, helpful, welcoming. The cottage was an ideal venue for relaxation and a base for touring the rest of the Isle of Wight. The views from the cottage were incredible. The Isle of Wight is beautiful. We love it and will return. We would recommend this cottage to everyone. Dan's kitchen - a Michelin trained chef - in St Helen's is worth a visit too.

Rated by Mr Moore reviewed on 27th April 2014

This was a lovely place to stay with stunning views. It was very near Ryde with access to the main roads for touring the island. The cottage was of a very high standard with everything one would need to spend a very enjoyable stay. Would consider staying again if we visit the Isle of Wight.

We had never been to the Isle of Wight before, but our experience at The Stables means we are very keen to return. We were given a warm welcome by the owners who were very helpful throughout our stay, but were never intrusive. The cottage is perfect for a couple. All the facilities are in excellent condition and its location is wonderful. The view from the rear of the cottage is hugely relaxing and we were lucky enough with the weather to be able to sit out and eat breakfast on the patio most mornings. In terms of its situation on the island, everywhere was well within reach, with a journey into Ryde only taking a few minutes. We both feel that the cottage is excellent value for money.

The views including the ones from the accommodation, our first words were WOW!. Owners were very friendly and shared their knowledge of the Isle Of Wight with us and also the little touches that they did on our arrival.

The owners went the extra mile, first class service in every way. We would book another holiday at the same place. Wonderful views and peaceful yet only a short drive from the local supermarket.
