Reviews

I have given this property a 4 so you will read this. This is not what it appears to be. Yes it is a new modern large 3 bedroom house on a water front. It is now getting tired from its use, 1 - the fridge freezer needs to be fully defrosted and cleaned a shelves in the door, of which there should be 3, as of this review there is only 1, replaced. The one that is on the bottom is too low so when the door is open bottles fall out on to the floor. 2 - at some point in the main bedroom the en-suite has flooded and the laminate floor has shrunk and is distorted, so much so I cut my foot on the raised corner. 3 - the ‘peaceful tranquil’ location is across the Castle Pil (water inlet) from the Milford housing estate which get quite rowdy at weekends, as well as being across the river from one of the largest Natural Gas storages in the U.K. Therefor you get a nice view of the storage tanks when facing south on the patio in the evening, as well as getting that lovely natural gas perfume wafting across on the wind. The roar of the burn off flame is quite comforting as well. 4 - it is advertised that if you ha e a boat you can use the slipway, this is true, but for probably now more than a 2 hours each high tide. 5 - the free internet is shared between the two semi detached houses, so do not expect good download and streaming. Please consider that Milford Haven grew up in the 4 to 5 now derelict and abandoned oil refineries along the river, the gas receiving terminal processes around 25% of all natural gas used in the U.K. Therefore once the house has been brought back to its ‘5 Star’ status it is a comfortable base to explore beyond Milford Haven into the wonderful place that is Pembrokeshire, with its incredible wild beaches and countryside. Please bring specialist foods with you as the only major supermarket is a tired Tesco. They are concentrating on the Marina, in a hope to bring Milford up, but it is an oil town, an oil town that has lost its oil refineries. Please ensure you do your extended research before settling on the comfortable large modern home as a base. 5 Star holiday cottage it is not, 3 to 4 star holiday base it is.

Marvellous weather does help but with so many facilities and so much room for the four of us it would have been perfect even without the good weather. Everything is easy from the simple key box to get in to the fully equipped kitchen and multiple bathrooms. The outside space looking out on the estuary is brilliant and a great place to relax. Been several times before and hopefully will keep coming back to this home from home.

I was quite shocked at a previous review when I came to review this property. I and m y family found it perfect for our stay in Pembrokeshire. Upon arrival we found some kindly left amenities including delicious welshcakes for our enjoyment. The property was sparkling clean and contained everything in the kitchen required to cook a decent meal. The views when the tide is in over the estuary are lovely too. The space is comfortable, cosy and homely yet also modern and trendy. I slept better than I sleep at home! There is a large balcony overlooking the estuary (which we fished off!) and a slip to allow you to put boats in the water (if you have one). The bedrooms are bright and spacious with plenty of storage. The living area has a decently sized TV, boardgames and a few books which we made good use of. Aside from the property itself, there is much to do in the area by means of historical landmarks, coastal path walks with breathtaking views and plenty of attractions for both older and younger generations. The nearby town of Milford Haven has a pretty marina with endless bars/restaurants and friendly faces. The owner happened to walk by one morning (they live nearby) and stopped for a chat with us and to ensure that everything was running smoothly with our stay (which it was). My family and I have stayed here a few times now on our visits to Pembrokeshire and we shall definitely be choosing this property again when we return next year.

We have just had a week in this beautiful cottage. It was well equipped with everything we needed and was comfortable and cosy. It is on the waters edge which made bird watching great and we loved seeing the tide come in and out. It is well situated to tour Pembrokeshire and there are some great restaurants in the harbour. We will definitely return.

After travelling all day to reach Curlew cottage, we could not get inside. We were given a key code by Sykes Cottages letting agents which did not work. After eventually getting in touch by my mobile, we were told they would contact the owners and get back to us. We waited nearly two hours and only by chance the couple next door were leaving and assisted us. It was very clear at this point we were not given the right instructions. They never did get back to us, but lied and said they tried and left a voice message on my phone. Strangley enough there were no missed calls recorded and they sent us an email saying they tried to contact us but couldn't leave a voicemail ???? We are still waiting for an explanation and an apology at least. The cottage is extremely uncomfortable. The mattresses need replacing as my husband and I and the friends that stayed with us all suffered with bad backs from the mattresses being to soft. The sopha also needs replacing for the same reason. The central heating is uncontrollable and comes on at all hours of the day and night. Even turning the thermastats down made no difference. The toilet in the main bedroom is only big enough for a child as it's wedged between the shower and the wall. The wooden stairs are steep and dangerous and if you are elderly or infirm in any way they are extremely difficult to go up or down. Getting your cases upstairs is ridiculously difficult. On closer inspection of other posters who left a positive feedback, they are few and far between and a long time ago. On first appearance the cottage looks ideal, but the faults only come to light once you are staying there. Stupid things like the dressing table mirror placed to high up the wall, that you have to stand up to see into it. All of this I would not have bothered writing a review if I had had an apology from the owners or Sykes letting agents who left us there and lied to us about getting back to us after waiting two hours to get inside the cottage. The owners did not agree with our complaints, well they wouldn't would they. They just couldn't care less and were only interested in taking our money. This was a very expensive experience as we cancelled a booking we'd made to stay there in August, knowing there was no way we could stay there again. We lost a great deal of money in a deposit we had placed. All in all Sykes letting agents, the owners of the cottage, were both unprofessional and anyone that stays here should be aware if they need assistance they won't get it.

The pictures and the description looked so promising, how wrong we were. Basically do not book this property under any circumstances and do not use Sykes Cottages to book any property. We flew into Bristol Airport from Spain, hired a car then 5 hours drive (bank holiday) to the cottage. Imagine our frustration when we could not get in. The instructions for the key safe were inadequate. We rang Sykes Cottages for assistance they promised to ring us back, they never did. It took us two hours to get in. We never did hear back from Sykes or the owners. Terrible service from Sykes especially when we complained on our return home. Cottage location is good, but that´s where it ends. The heating has "a mind of it´s own", we were either freezing or boiling, could not control it. Beds are really soft both us and our guests finished up with bad backs. The cushioning in the sofa´s is worn out, really uncomfortable. The mirror above the dressing table in the master bedroom is too high, the mirror in the bath room is too low (chest level), the en-suite in the master bedroom is really cramped. To get upstairs, the stairs are lacquered wood, too steep and slippery too the point of being dangerous. Really difficult to get cases upstairs, certainly not suitable for anyone who is slightly frail or elderly. At the end of the week we could not wait to get out of there. We had already pre booked this cottage for the whole of August, we immediately cancelled that booking as soon as we arrived home. To sum up, do not book this property and do not use Sykes Cottages to book any property.

We enjoyed being near the tidal estuary and seeing the wildlife. We loved discovering the nearby beaches and there was so much to do on offer. There was also safe beaches for children.

The area, the house was in a lovely position and house itself was perfect. It was ideally situated for the Pembrokeshire Coast. Top marks all round. Would definitely return and recommend it to family and friends.

The holiday cottage was just what we wanted for our holiday with our elderly parents. My fathers reaction when we arrived was to say "fantastic." At the end of the week he said he wanted to stay another week.

The cottage was in a lovely position, looking out over the estuary with lots of birds coming and going with the tides. The balcony/patio made a good place to sit and relax. Good walks nearby and lots of places of interest to visit. It is a very nice cottage, clean and well cared for with lovely furnishings.

Everything was lovely, a quiet area but not far from lovely beaches. This part of South Wales is beautiful, if you have not been there before like us you must go. The photos of this property do not do it justice, you have to stay there to appreciate how lovely it is.

The house is in lovely position on the estuary. Very peaceful position but not far from shops etc. The accommodation was fantastic, very clean and had all in the way of equipment needed. Pembrokeshire is a very beautiful county.

This accommodation was excellent. When we arrived one of the beds had not been made but this was very quickly dealt with by one telephone call. Not only was the bed made but we received a complimentary bottle of wine. The house was light, spacious and very well designed and maintained. It had everything we needed for our holiday. The location by the estuary inlet was great and we enjoyed watching the swans and other birds when the tide came in and out. The patio/terrace is a brilliant feature and much used during our stay. Perfect for a G&T; as the sun goes down! We were grateful for the directions as the sat nav did not take us right to the property. There were 6 of us in the property. We all enjoyed our stay and found plenty of things to do in the area.

Location was good, very quiet, in a pretty setting. The property, was of a very high standard with all the comforts of home. The outside patio area was great of an evening with the sun shining on it, an ideal spot for an early evening g&t. We have stayed in quite a few different properties in Pembrokeshire over the years, but this property would be difficult to beat.

We had an amazing long weekend away at this cottage. It was in a beautiful location on the waters edge. The cottage its self was perfect, very clean and modern, with plenty of space indoors and outdoors with the BBQ area. The welcome pack with information on the cottage, and surrounding area I.e places to eat/visit was very helpful. We would book again for sure and recommend to any one looking for a relaxing get away.
