Reviews

We were lucky to find this cottage perfectly located to visit family in Glossop. The cottage was very well equipped which was very helpful. Cake and milk in the fridge which was a nice surprise. Couldn’t fault the accommodation at all. The only thing which we’d have found helpful was some garden chairs as we were there during the heat wave and spent a couple of days relaxing in the garden, so if you are planning on relaxing outside then I’d recommend you take some deck chairs with you to enjoy the beautiful views this cottage offers.

This really is a lovely cottage, like home from home - but nicer! Location is perfect & as others have said everything is here that you could possibly need. Comfy beds, warm fire & lovely views - sat in the lounge watching the snowfall & a variety of birds on the feeders. Would happily recommend this cottage & hope to stay again in the future.

We spent an amazing week at the cottage over new year. It's in a quiet location and was a perfect base for taking advantage of the great walking in the area. The cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped with everything you could need- they had even left us milk in the fridge and a welcome cake! ( The owners were very friendly and accommodating) The doggies really enjoyed playing in the lovely big garden and the log fire was perfect for snuggling up in front of. We'll definitely be visiting again.

Lovely homely cottage, quiet location, but easily access able into the surrounding towns. Equipped with everything you need. Lovely spacious rooms. Lovely decor. Would highly recommend.

Lovely cottage in a great location, a large enclosed garden which the dog loved. 5 Minutes away from Glossop providing everything you need. Kitchen fully stocked with all the basics you may need, milk and a cake on arrival was very thoughtful. Wifi is very useful but quite slow, probably due to the rural location. House was nice and warm, but still cool enough in the living room. Chromecast connected to the tv so you can stream YouTube, Netflix etc is a nice touch. The bed is comfy in my opinion but rather soft, so may not be comfy to others! The bathroom is nice and tidy, the only downside was the shower temperature fluctuating a lot, this seems to be due to having a power shower on a combi boiler which is not recommended, however it has plenty of power. Parking space for 1 car, possibly 2 down the side of the house. Neighbours can make it tricky to reverse in or out due to having many cars but were happy to move when asked. House is lovely and quirky with exposed beams, floors are quite uneven though and stairs very steep and narrow. So consider this is elderly or not so great on your feet! All in all a great cottage with a great owner would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for New Years and had the best time. The cottage was absolutely lovely, and had everything you needed and more. The owners were very thoughtful with all of the things available (books, games, DVDs) there was also milk in the fridge and a tin of biscuits on our arrival. The cottage is in a lovely setting and everything about it made our stay amazing. We would definitely go back

This is our second visit to The Cottage Glossop and we continue to find the cottage and location perfect for us and our border collie Sparky. The bed is large and comfortable with a skylight above so you can lie in bed and watch the stars and the odd low plane flying into Manchester. There is constant hot water and heating if required. As soon as we pull up outside we start to relax. There is no road noise, a fantastic view from the patio doors over the large secure garden to the woodhead pass in the distance which in September is covered in purple heather. There is a well stocked Co-Op nearby. It's perfect for walkers with all the home comforts. Well recommended with a great view from the door through the lovely Equine Centre

A beautiful location which was peaceful and quiet, and a cottage with a comfortable atmosphere, close to wonderful scenery and local amenities not too far away.

The Cottage was fully equipped and comfortable, a home from home. Excellent. Stunning area lovely views didn't want to leave.

Rated by Mrs Preece reviewed on 29th May 2016

Everything that we needed was there already at The Cottage, we didn't need to use any of the essentials we brought with us. The beds were comfortable and the bedding looked as if it was new. Lovely big bath and powerful shower. The heating could be adjusted easily and the house warmed up quickly. The television had good reception. The WIFI worked well too. The key safe was a good idea; it saves the worry of being locked out. The garden and view were lovely and would be wonderful to use in good weather.

The Cottage was very idyllic, a beautiful property in the perfect location. A perfect hideaway from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Recommended to anyone wanting peace and quiet in a lovely setting.

We loved the fact that The Cottage was away from everything and so nice and peaceful down the little lane. It was also very cosy in the evenings. Everything was provided that we could possibly need.

Rated by Mr Blondel reviewed on 30th November 2014

Great attention to detail in the presentation of The Cottage, every necessary item was thoughtfully provided in the kitchen, for example. The Cottage is attractive and cheering, even in winter. Its location makes it ideal for touring the northern Peak District and it has handy access to the Manchester area if required. The owner was very helpful when contacted prior to the visit and provided useful information by email. The Cottage is dog-friendly - which was a must for us. Pleasant neighbours. Overall, highly recommended we would certainly like to return one day.

We loved it all- the location, clean, spacious, warm log fire, garden.

Rated by Miss Brown reviewed on 9th November 2014

This cottage is great, clean, comfortable and warm with log fire. Large rooms and garden great for the dog. 5 mins drive from glossop with lots of shops including tesco. Has wifi which was great , took my tablet and found places to visit. Close to some cottages but still private. There is a walk from the door which takes you onto the pennine way. Turn left at end of drive go down lane past some cottages turn right at the end go through equestrian centre towards the cafe turn right past the small animal farm then follow it down. We was told by a neighbour else we've wouldn't have known it was there. We will definitely be back again in the future xx

Rated by kazb24xx reviewed on 8th November 2014

This cottage was warm and cosy with lovely neighbours. It was out in the country but only a short distance from amenities. The log fire was a great addition although we were lucky enough to have a mild October week. The cottage is ideally placed for numerous visits locally and beyond and you could get the train into Manchester if you wished. All in all a home from home.

Rated by Mrs Cosslett reviewed on 2nd November 2014

The Cottage was the perfect little getaway. The garden was perfect for the dog and again is a brilliant place for walking with a dog. The cottage was clean and welcoming and had everything we needed for our stay. We couldn't of really asked for anything else it was just perfect. We will be returning as soon as we can.

Nice cottage in a lovely setting, great for easy access to Peak District

Rated by Mr Hill reviewed on 3rd August 2014

We liked the tranquillity of the location but ease of access of all the places we wanted to visit. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. We would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday let to our friends.

Rated by Ms Wills-Porter reviewed on 20th July 2014

The Cottage is detached and set in a wonderful rural location. Tranquil and picturesque. I am a light sleeper and you can hear the planes occasionally at night flying in to Manchester Airport but I really didn't find it an issue and would definitely stay here again. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. We have a small dog who could get through the gate, so we bought some netting and fenced it off a bit more. The are lots of local shops but we tended to use the coop at Simmondley. The local pub Hare and Hounds serves good food but isn't Dog Friendly, but if it is sunny they have a nice decked area to eat on. Hope to come back again.

Wow! What can I say?! A 5 star cottage, everything was perfect. The wood burning stove was a big hit with my 2 boys. Will definitely stay again. Photos don't do it justice.

Nice views, cosy property. Good general location, good supply of necessities. Woodburning stove!

Rated by Mr Duffy reviewed on 21st February 2014

The cottage was beautifully tucked away, but not so far from shops to make it difficult to get supplies. The views from the cottage were brilliant. The sky lights were cool and being there in February it was great to have central heating that kept rooms nice and warm.

Rated by Mr Moore reviewed on 18th February 2014

Everything was perfect! The cottage was perfect, cosy and well stocked, and the location was idyllic.

Rated by Miss Williams reviewed on 1st February 2014

We wondered if January week at the top of the Peak District was a bit of a risk, but the weather stayed fine for us and everyday was topped off by returning to this beautiful cottage. The village of Charlesworth is quaint and full of interesting buildings made from the traditional stone and perfectly equipped with two pubs, a beautiful greengrocers with a fish counter and a convenience store which conveniently seems to stock everything you could want, they even make sandwiches to order! When we arrived at the cottage on the first day, the heating was on, the fire was laid and everything was spotlessly clean, the garden is huge with plenty of room for an energetic boxer dog to run around, although after each days walk she was fit for nothing more than collapsing in front of the log burner. The kitchen was well stocked and the gas powered range was a joy to cook with. Upstairs the bedrooms were great, topped off by the skylight above the master bed, and the p-shaped bath was the perfect way to end each day. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay in a cottage we can't recommend highly enough.

The cottage was in a lovely, scenic location. Very homely feel to it and very well equipped. There has been a lot of thought gone into making the cottage a relaxing place to have a break. The owner was helpful and prompt in getting back with a solution when we got locked out. We will definitely be happy to recommend the cottage and can't fault it in anyway. Thank you!

We liked the cottage very much, it was warm and spacious and comfortable. My husband and I will hopefully return sometime in the future to the lovely cottage.

A very tastefully renovated cottage in excellent state of repair. The setting was perfect for a quiet break while not being too far from places of interest. Very comfortable cottage which made for a perfect base for the four adults in our party. Most of the fixtures and fittings seemed to be in as new condition, hence we had no issues with cleanliness etc.

Rated by Mr Shackleton reviewed on 21st October 2013

The cottage was full of charm and well equipped. It was a joy to stay there; a home away from home!

Rated by Mrs Chow reviewed on 18th October 2013

We stayed for a week in august this year and took our dog with us. The cottage was beautiful and had a huge garden overlooking an equine centre. Surrounded by stunning views and plenty of lovely walks, The main bedroom had a velux window which was lovely for laying in bed looking at the stars too. A well equipped, comfortable cottage that I would not hesitate to recommend. Our only suggestion would be to have a side gate erected to make the garden safe and enclosed for dogs.
