Location Details

The small rural village of Alberbury sits in the countryside, 9 miles from Shrewsbury. There is so much to do in this area, from the ten museums of Ironbridge Gorge to the abbey, castle, shops and restaurants of Shreswbury. There are many National Trust properties within easy reach of Alberbury, including Attingham Park, Powis Castle, Chirk Castle and Erddig. Ludlow, with its castle and timbered buildings, is a lovely town for a stroll and a refreshing cream tea, or step back in time with a trip to Acton Scott Working Farm, seen on TV as 'The Victorian Farm'.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

It was perfect for what we wanted. Very high standard and the owners were lovely and very helpful. The house was amazing, we will definitely return.

Loved it! Beautiful cottage, spacious, luxurious and clean, the hot tub and sauna were a real plus! We had the most fantastic time and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Rated by Miss McKinley reviewed on 27th July 2016

The accommodation was extremely spacious and well equipped. We liked the variety of seating areas. All the bedrooms were en suite and the water was always hot and plentiful. The extras (sauna, hot tub and additional games rooms) were a real bonus. A wonderful place for a group get together.

The property and facilities are absolutely stunning - the photos do not do it justice in the slightest. Having a bathroom to every bedroom saved us a lot of time and hassle and was a real plus point. As was having so many facilities on site for people to enjoy. The hot tub was wonderful, with room for us all to enjoy together.

The Mill House excellent accommodation which suited everyone from 90 years old down to 17 months. Very clean and plenty to occupy everyone, we all particularly liked the decor and paintings.

A lovely house to spend a family Christmas. It was warm and cosy with lots of space.

Great accommodation in a good location. Although property was part of a complex it was very private.

Rated by Mr Gibbs reviewed on 31st October 2015

The Mill House has everything you need, including a sauna and a hot tub. The place is just amazing. The play area for the children is great with pool tables, air ice hockey and much more and with no extra charge to use them. The proprietors were so accommodating and lovely people. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The Mill House was the perfect holiday home for our large group of friends with small children. The cottage was huge and the photos do not do it justice. The owners were great and very friendly

A fabulous property, everything was to the highest standard. Amazing surroundings and very friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Just perfect!

The place was out of this world and so well taken care of. The hot tub and sauna were the best part and the people that run it are so kind and helpful.

We had a wonderful time - the accommodation is first rate. We liked everything - maybe the hot tub requires a mention - it was fabulous.

Rated by Mrs Rougeolle reviewed on 9th December 2014

Our party of eight friends loved the spaciousness of this property. There was everything we could possibly want. We loved the sauna, hot tub and snooker table particularly. The owner was away at the time, but the housekeeper went out of her way to make us welcome. She was very helpful. We all wallowed in the luxury!

Rated by Mrs Scott reviewed on 28th October 2014

Although a little out of Shrewsbury and an hour from Chester, this house was ideal for a family get-together for adults and teens. The house was exceptionally comfortable and well equipped, the staff friendly and helpful. We loved the hot tub and sauna and tended to cook in which was so easy in such a fab kitchen. The play barn etc would have been great if we had had younger children with us, and the teens enjoyed the DVD library and air hockey. They even had a couple of dogs available for walking if you wanted! Couldn't fault this accomodation

Rated by KazW951 reviewed on 18th October 2014

The welcome was friendly, the House and the facilities were fantastic and we had a wonderful stay here. This House made a friends group holiday with a mixture of young families, couples and singles so relaxing and fun.

12 of us stayed here for my hen weekend. The accommodation and surroundings are amazing and I was moved to tears when we walked in as the pictures do not do it justice. The Mill House is immaculate and beautifully furnished and has everything you could possibly need. The hot tub and sauna are brilliant and certainly had plenty of use! The play barn and honesty shop are great and everyone is so friendly and could not do enough to help. This fantastic place certainly made my hen party one to remember and we are already looking to book again for next year!!

Large group of 12 stayed in the Mill House, the place is huge and the pictures really don't do it justice! There was enough space in the property that we were not under each others feet throughout our long weekend. The property was out of this world we really enjoyed it, the people that own the property are more than helpful! The hot tub was brilliant! We all probably spent more time in there than in the house! Would highly recommend this property!

Rated by Marie S reviewed on 23rd September 2014

This property was immaculate and had everything you needed. We were lucky to have beautiful weather but had it been bad there was still plenty to do with a games room and badminton and the house was so big with 12 of us there it still seemed spacious and we had the added extra of the hot tub. Our family group ages ranged from 70s, 40s,20s, teens and an 8 year old and we all enjoyed it. The owners were helpful and there if you had any questions but left us to enjoy our holiday and because the house had everything we needed we really felt like we'd had a holiday. We would definately go again.

Rated by Mrs Griffin reviewed on 16th September 2014

There was something for everyone to do. It entertained all of the ages in the group, including OAPS, teenagers and youngsters. The facilities on site were brilliant and would be great whatever the weather!

Rated by Mrs Webley reviewed on 26th July 2014

Outstanding property with every facility a large group could want or need. Owners were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, and so were their dogs :) Will not hesitate to book again in future, and really thankful that they've got other properties on site so we can still go when there aren't so many of us!

Rated by Mrs Watson reviewed on 13th July 2014

The owners of the property are extremely helpfully with any questions and help needed with the area for walks, places to eat etc. We will hopefully be going next year if not before. The accommodation is a credit to them.

The Mill House is a fantastic property! There was plenty of room for 6 adults and 6 children. The farm itself is lovely and all the properties on site have obviously been finished to the same standard. The hot tub and Jimmy's Play Barn were an added bonus for children and parents alike! The owners, were very friendly and always available for anything we needed but didn't make us feel like we were being watched all the time. It was also lovely being able to take Millie the sheepdog for a walk through the local fields. We would definitely consider returning and will certainly recommend this property to friends.

Rated by Mrs Ryan reviewed on 12th April 2014

Everything was superb, from the spacious living rooms to the beautifully appointed bedrooms. The hot tub and sauna were added bonuses, and to have a pool table in the lounge was just perfect. So much space, lovely countryside on your doorstep and plenty to do on site if the weather was poor.

Rated by Mr Daft reviewed on 8th April 2014

This accommodation is truely 5 star. There is everything you need there. The play barn is so good for kids of all ages. The hot tub and sauna are a little extra luxury that were thoroughly enjoyed. The owners are lovely and ensured our stay was memorable. Cannot wait to return.

Rated by Ms Peak reviewed on 27th January 2014

This is the largest unit of 6 or 7 in a farmyard courtyard . all apparently converted recently . the owners live in the farmhouse on site and are incredibly friendly and helpful . we regularly take breaks in holiday cottages/cabins and usually find it advisable to book a larger than advertised property to be comfortale - this is not the case here , all bedrooms are of generous size with good size en-suites , the kitchen is huge and well equipped . there is a huge dining room which also has easy chairs and a tv , connected to ( via open plan arch ) a massive lounge with comfy seating for all. all fittings are of a good standard . outside has a BBQ with dining table , also a good size hot-tub . the only slight negative is that there is no "view" from outside , there is a barn play area with games and books to suit kids and adults . overall i would say this the best we have visited as regards the property itself , just slightly marred by its lack of outlook . i would stress it is sensibly priced and extremely good value in comparison to most

Stayed here with eleven other people. All had lovely rooms with en-suite bathrooms. Spacious living area with pool table. Dining area with log fire and further seating area. Large kitchen with big American style fridge, dish washer and range cooker. We all loved the hot tub and sauna. Would be a great place to go in the summer and have a BBQ. Staff were very friendly. Would definitely return.
