Reviews

We stayed here in late October. The cottage was lovely - had everything you needed to be self sufficient. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed watching DVDs next to the fire. The location was also very good - well-placed for nice local walks and visits to towns and attractions in Derbyshire. The owner was very friendly. Overall, we would highly recommend.

Had a great weekend away. Loved the location and all of the walks nearby. We were fully relaxed and refreshed and will definitely visit again. Thanks.

The owner and her family were so friendly and helpful. We knew we had assistance if we needed it. The cottage was in an excellent position for us to get to all the places we wanted to visit.

A cosy romantic hideaway, perfect for exploring the southern Derbyshire Dales.

Stayed here for 3 nights having booked last minute the night before! Owners did not seem put out by our last minute arrival. Is a self contained bedroom with sofa and TV opposite, small and cosy, big comfy king bed. Kitchen very well equipped with all amenities, cookware and plates etc. Large shower in nice sized bathroom. The pubs serving food are in a different village - Winster- a bit of a walk, and are often closed so would recommend you drive and should they be closed you can drive to the next village/s. On a Tuesday and Wednesday we ended up driving village to village with many being closed. During our visit we went to Bakewell, Matlock Bath (Abraham Heights-excellent day out without kids!), Buxton (Poole's Cavern), Castleton (Speedwell Cavern) and the castle, and also Carsington Waters. All within 30 minutes drive. Would stay again.

We had a fantastic stay at Cobbled Corner over Christmas. The property was in a nice location and had everything we could have asked for. The owner was very helpful and made sure that our stay was nice and easy. The cottage was like a home from home and I would highly recommend this property.

The cottage was perfect for our needs, we could not find any faults with it at all.

Rated by Mrs Irvine reviewed on 31st July 2013

This little cottage - double bedroom, kitchen and bathroom - has been beautifully renovated and is in the middle of the hamlet of Elton. If you go as a couple, you will need to be on very good terms as it is very small! Great location for walks. Cannot fault.

The cottage has been beautifully decorated with everything you could need including a tv with digital box, dishwasher, toaster, books and dvds etc. It's not big but its perfectly formed and more than adequate for a couple. The cottage is in a great location within easy reach of Bakewell, Buxton and Youlgrave. All of these locations have selection of pubs serving excellent food and local ales. The cottage is connected to the owners property but that shouldn't put people off. The owner is warm, friendly and there if you need her - not at all imposing. I haven't a bad word to say about our stay. The cottage is wonderful.

Rated by Mr Rogerson reviewed on 10th September 2012

The cottage was comfortable and clean and had all the bits and pieces for a holiday, a lovely big walk in shower and lots of room to ahng things up. The bed was very comfortable and we were able to watch tv in bed. The kitchen had all we needed to cook meals though we mostly ate out, much more fun. All in all a nice little cottage we would recommend. The village was very quiet but not far to major towns and amenities. The owners were helpful though the key was not in the blister as arranged but they were quickly on the scene to let us in.

This is a lovely little cottage in a perfect location for walking and visiting Derbyshire in a peaceful little idyllic village but close enough to many places of interest and nice places to eat. The owners couldn't be more helpful and welcoming and the cottage is very clean, cosy and has everything you could possibly need for your stay. Local villages have nice places to eat and you are perfectly situated for some lovely walks round Stanton Moor in particular. I would reccommend this to anyone wishing to holiday in Derbyshire.

A lovely clean cottage with everything you could wish for. Excellent service from the owners who were very nice and helpful. We liked the cottage very much, and the location and amenities were great. What we liked the best was the actual location of the cottage, in a lovely village in a beautiful part of the Peak District, which happens to be one of our favourite places. Would definately stay there again.

Rated by Kenneth & Lisa Gynne reviewed on 1st December 2011

The accommodation and the location were excellent for us. All the main towns and places of interest were close at hand, and if we wanted to have a rest from driving there was even a bus service to either Matlock or Bakewell. We would definitely use this cottage again, we had a wonderful week.

A beautiful well equipped cottage. Ideal property for 2 people. Owner very friendly and helpful, baked us a delicious cake. A visit to Haddon Hall a must!

Rated by Mrs Makepeace reviewed on 8th November 2010

Finding the cottage even though in the main street was not easy as there was only an inconspicuous notice on the front of the main house. Once round the back, the cottage came to view - very tiny but secluded. The owner came to open up which was just as well because the key safe wasn't working properly. However from then on, all was improving. There was enough equipment to keep us happy and the large bed in the studio room was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and well equipped and the kitchen was adequate. The area was lovely: Matlock is a very nice town a few miles away and as well as a park and many shops and a river, it also provided a new large supermarket. There are many properties and gardens to visit in the area including many National Trust places and all were found to be excellent value and most interesting. We are not walkers but we did see many people walking in the lanes and up the hills. Walking at Dovedale was our main outdoor visit and this was beautiful. Chatsworth is well worth a whole day visit.

A warm, cosy and extremely comfortable little cottage set in the middle of a little Peak District village. Beautiful scenery all around, very peaceful and relaxing.

Rated by Mrs Paton reviewed on 9th January 2010

The cottage in Elton was accurately described so that we knew exactly what we were going to. The owner was friendly & helpful & we would have been able to sort out any problems as we were attached to her house. ( we had no problems) The large bed-sitting room was nicely furnished & comfortable & the kitchen was modern & well equipped, likewise the bathroom. There was a small patio area which we used as the weather was perfect. Elton was very well situated to visit all the main places of interest & was a very quaint unspoilt Peak village. We had a lovely week & visited lots of places we had not been to previously. Although there were no shops in Elton the towns of Matlock & Bakewell were within easy reach and we like to be off the beaten track. The local tourist offices were very helpful & we did some delightful walks in the dales as well as visiting the old cotton mill in Cromford. We love Derbyshire & will doubt return before too long. We liked the hills & dales best; Elton is on high ground with good views,( Cambridge is very flat!) & there was nothing negative to say really which is good.
