A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Lovely property in a beautiful area. Very quiet village but well placed for visiting surrounding villages and Ludlow. The property was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a break away. Thoroughly enjoyable week and hope to return.
Lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting.
Spent an enjoyable week here with some good friends, weather was very hot (perhaps too hot). The cottage is in a quiet spot but it only takes 10 minutes to drive into Ludlow. The owners are more than helpful if there is anything you need. There are some good walks to go on if you are feeling energetic. All in all very good holiday.
This is a spacious, comfortable accommodation. We had everything we needed to hand. The host friendly and informative.
Fantastic cottage that we have used a few times. Lovely setting with excellent works and very friendly owners.
A fantastic cottage with excellent facilities. Really good quality and very clean. A great base to be in for the area. Although next to the owners property we appreciated the privacy we were given. Great fire and much needed on cold nights!
We were pleased with our choice and have booked again for the 2016/17 New Year period. This will be our fourth visit to this particular property. As with all our visits, we were very pleased to see the owners.
It was like home from home. Very peaceful and had everything that our family of four required.
Exceeded our expectations. A brilliant cottage with everything we needed. I would highly recommend staying here. The owner was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area.
The property was beautifully furnished and everything provided. This property is truly outstanding in all areas.
This is the best cottage we have stayed in. It has been renovated and fitted out to a very high standard and is spotlessly clean, very spacious and comfortable. The area is really quiet and is surrounded by gardens and farmland with lovely views over the fields. We highly recommend this holiday accommodation.
This is the best cottage we have stayed in. It has been renovated and fitted out to a very high standard and is spotlessly clean, and very spacious and comfortable. The owners are very friendly and helpful and live in the house next door. There is also another holiday accommodation in the same yard but The Cider Mill has its own parking for two cars right outside the front door and so has no interference from other guests. The area is really quiet and is surrounded by gardens and farmland with lovely views over the fields. Although there was no pub or restaurant in the village it is only a short drive to nearby pubs and Ludlow is 10 mins away by car and a supermarket / petrol station about 5 mins away. Wifi is available in this property. We highly recommend this holiday accommodation.
The property was great, the views from both the back and front were very nice. The village was quiet and not far from the Ludlow park and ride. The owners of the property were very nice and very helpful, lovely people.
A beautiful cottage in a beautiful area! The owners were helpful and friendly and everything was catered for.
This is the most idilic place we have stayed in. Modern features with the rustic barn convertion feeling. Clean accommodation with good amenities. Very friendly owners and ideal location to see the local sites. Set in beautiful surroundings and very quiet with lots of good walks.
A great cottage with comfortable beds. The best I've been to in years.
My wife and I enjoyed the home comforts of The Old Cider Mill along with the peace and tranquillity. This was our second visit here and we will be back again! The hosts are charming and made us feel very welcome during our stay.
The cottage matched the description but the location was much better than we imagined as it was surrounded by amazing views. Very warm, cosy and very well planned to ensure a great break. Please thank the owners for providing such a great cottage and a warm welcome, we felt really at home.
"The Old Cider Mill was a true home from home; a lovely place to stay in a lovely part of the country."
A delightful cottage which was beautifully furnished and excellently equipped. One of the best we have stayed in in over 40 years' of self-catering holidays.
Clean spacious and well equipped to a high standard. Peaceful and quiet with beautiful views.
The cottage was superb, everything about it was excellent quality. Had a good heating system - set appropriately for time of year. All fixtures and fittings were good quality and there was plenty of cooking equipment! It was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We're looking forward to returning later in the year.
A lovely barn sensitively renovated. All furnishings and equipment were of excellent standard and very clean. Our welcome was very warm and the owners very helpful. A perfect place and location. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.
A beautiful restoration and furnishing of The Old Cider Mill by the owners. The cottage was warm and welcoming for our winter break. The owner was friendly & helpful and the location was within easy reach of towns and a number of visitor attractions in South Shropshire. We had a relaxing and superb three day break, made all the better knowing that we had a superb cottage to return to after days out in the very cold January weather.
Very comfortable, plenty of room and good quality fittings. In a convenient location and very quiet. Overall excellent.
A lovely well equipped cottage in a good location for exploring. The owner was very welcoming and a stones throw away if need be. It was very clean and the children loved it, very spacious and airy. Would definitely stay again.
The property was beautiful and well equipped, it felt private even though the owners were next door and everything was of a high standard. The area offered our family lots of experiences we will not forget.
Luxurious cottage in a quiet location and exactly as described. We could not find any fault and would recommend this property.
It was a wonderful week. The property and the weather were both excellent.
We had a great time visiting many gardens, houses and towns in the area. The property was one of the best we have stayed in; it was fabulous.
We have spent many holidays in the UK and we have stayed in many different cottages, but the Old Cider Mill in Caynham was definitely the best.
An excellent cottage, well furnished and comfortable. The owners were very helpful and friendly. An excellent location.
This is the best-equipped holiday cottage we have ever rented. It is very comfortable and in a wonderful location. It provides easy access to Ludlow and surrounding areas, with plenty of interesting places to visit in Shropshire and Herefordshire. The owners/hosts are lovely and friendly. We enjoyed watching the calves which has just been let out into the field for the very first time and spotting the local foxes in the early evening as they made their way across the fields behind the cottage.
The cottage is so quiet and peaceful, with lovely views, we feel relaxed from the moment we walk through the door.
The seal of approval is in our booking of the property for another week. The welcome on arrival; the small but well thought out touches. The overall presentation and cleanliness of the property. Comfortable furnishings and fittings. The help provided by the owners family when asked for, a very nice family.
Location good, cottage excellent, owners excellent. Overall very satisfied. Lovely warm cottage to walk into after a cold day outside.
An excellent property, decorated to a very high standard and very well equipped.
We had not visited this part of the country before and had a lovely holiday, the cottage was fresh and homely, clean and very well equipped with everything we wanted and more, it was really nicely done with stunning views a having the owners just next door was reassuring! there were lots of leaflets about the many local attraction and free wi-fi which was a hit with our 2 teenage sons!!
The cottage was excellent, spotlessly clean, warm and had plenty of kitchen utensils. We were mainly there to attend the Ludlow Medieval Christmas Market but also enjoyed the local walks! Would certainly return to this property.
We had a great week, and enjoyed walking in the surrounding area and visiting the local villages. The Old Cider Mill was lovely to return too after a day out, a first class cottage with everything you need, and very helpful owners.
Beautifully renovated to extremely high standard. lovely peaceful everything you need with beautiful Ludlow only 10 minutes away.
It was a delightfully renovated cottage and it met our needs well. Good equipment throughout and super bathrooms. Situated well for most places we visited.
The property was beautifully restored, and tastefully furnished with everything we could have possibly needed and more, it was great to have all linen and towels provided, so we did not need to worry about it. There were clear instructions for all appliances and a useful guide to the local area.
Everything in the cottage was great. Internet access was also brilliant. Everything you could possibly want was supplied. The only downside for us was the lack of eating places - you needed a car, the local pubs were not up to much - so we chose to eat in.
Lovely accommodation, we were very comfortable during our stay. The outside seating area was good and we were lucky enough to have the good weather to be able to enjoy it!
Excellent location only a 10 minute drive into ludlow which is well worth a visit. Very peaceful and the best cottage we have ever had.
A delightful cottage in a fabulous quiet location yet close to all amenities. Cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday.
A truly superb conversion of the old barn in a wonderful rural setting.
On arrival, the owner greeted us immediately (lives next door). Explained history of the Mill and gave us a brief rundown of amenities etc. If we experienced any problems, he was only next door and would sort things out. the property was immaculate; beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated - cant think of anything we required which was not there! We could quite happily live there. Mill situated on small hill with beautiful views. Very quiet, with Ludlow and other attractions close by. Loved it.
The cottage itself was not only comfortable but also so well equipped. The additional touches of things like tea, coffee, toilet rolls etc. Made it feel like home-from-home rather than just a rented space. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Had a short break at The Cider Mill in March 2013, on the weekend we had the heavy snowfall! Arrived quite late due to weather and the owner gave us directions to the property and waited outside for us. The property itself was stunning. A great mix of traditional old beams etc, along with modern interior. Everything you could wish for is supplied, we even had a couple of bottles of cider left for us. The surrounding area has plenty of places to visit, definitely go to Ironbridge as it is the most beautiful place. All in all, will highly recommend a stay at The Cider Mill.
A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting, and top marks to Sykes for your company's service.
We've only been home a week and I'm already feeling "home"sick for The Old Cider Mill. It's an 18th century building, with lots of beams in evidence, but done up in a contemporary style, with modern wooden floors (so no awkward floor levels and steps to catch you out). The living room seating, and the beds were all very comfortable. The conversion was done in summer 2012. There are wonderful views from all windows, looking out on to the glorious south Shropshire countryside, and the cottage is surrounded by fields with ancient fruit trees in them and patches of woodland.
The different views from each of the windows of the cottage was so lovely and rural.
The owner was on hand to welcome us and the property was superb. We could not have wanted more. Immaculately clean, everything we needed was there. The property has been sympathetically renovated and retains its charm. Perfect.
Comfortable well equipped cottage. Just what was required for a quiet break in the lovely Shropshire countryside, but close enough the Ludlow and it's facilities.
The cottage was extremely well equipped and comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage to friends.
Absolutely stunning property, very tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Had everything you would need to have a relaxing holiday. The only problem was that we didn't want to go home! All in all an outstanding place to stay and would definitely go there again.
Beautiful barn conversion, situated in quiet location with lovely open views, yet less than ten minutes drive from well-stocked supermarket/filling station and Park and Ride into Ludlow.Warm and cosy on even the coldest of days and a real home from home. Another winner from Sykes!.
Great cottage to stay in. Very quiet and secluded. Very well kitted out and a very high standard of appliances. The host was very welcoming and had made the cottage a first class place.
Great cottage for families - had all the amenities needed and the open plan layout downstairs was perfect to keep an eye on the children. Lovely decor too.
The property and the location were both great. A highly recommended property offering a very high standard in all respects. We would definitely stay here again. The owners were so helpful!
We had a lovely week at the Old Cider Mill. Very well appointed cottage, lovely setting with all the home comforts. Very close to Ludlow and other attractions of the area. Cannot really fault this holiday cottage.
Fantastic holiday, accommodation was superb, Shropshire is a beautiful place to visit.
A wonderful cottage to return to after a day of sightseeing. The area very convenient to many attractions and the quality of restaurants within a few miles of the cottage was outstanding.
