Location Details

The town of Ballybofey is situated in the centre of County Donegal and rests on the banks of the River Finn. Ballybofey is the ‘twin town' of Stranorlar and the two are often mentioned together as they are separated by a small bridge across the river, famed for its quality trout and salmon fishing.

The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

We spent two weeks in this great home in the hills overlooking the twin towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar in County Donegal. It is a great getaway in a rural area outside of Killygordon. The location is great for a family vacation or just a quiet place to experience some off the wonderful Irish hospitality. The owner, Garvan, was especially helpful and we could not have asked for better accommodations. Garvan went out of his way to may sure our stay was pleasant in every way. I would highly recommend this cottage if you are looking for a self catering home in this area. We used this home as a base and traveled all over the west coast from Galway to Malin Head and Giants Causeway.

We loved the space the house offered us as a large family. The house looked small from the drive but inside was massive and with a large garden the kid's and dogs had plenty of room to run about. Very relaxing and peaceful so suited us well. With the weather being brilliant great holiday was had by all. .

Sallywood House was a great base for visiting all of Donegal. There were nine of us and we had plenty of room. The bathrooms and showers were great, with plenty of hot water. I would happily return to Sallywood House.
