Many thanks for the thoughtful gifts from Melissa that’s the best host to date, lovely little cottage in a ideal base for ventures to both Cornwall and Devon. Although next door (ish) we had hardly seen or heard them and Jessie is a lovely dog, I would recommend this cottage to others wanting the pease and tranquil feel and that’s what we had, two weeks of... thanks very much again and all the best x

We are travelling back to Lincolnshire from what has been an amazing week in Cornwall, our first holiday as a family of three. Palmers Lodge has been perfect for us and Melissa went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible with a 5 month old baby. On arrival we were greeted by Melissa with a Cream Tea, flowers, wine and milk which really was lovely. The Lodge has everything you could possibly need, it has been finished with a high spec and is very modern. The location of the Lodge is perfect as a base for travelling around Cornwall with St Ives being about an hour and 20 minutes away. Thank you for making our holiday so perfect Melissa, it was lovely to meet you and I hope your next visitors enjoy Palmers Lodge as much as the ‘Palmers’ did xx

From the moment you arrive you can see that this is a great place to stay. The owner Melissa has tried to think of everything, from a cream tea, flowers and wine when you arrive (we don't drink, so she got us something non-alcoholic :) Thanks Melissa) to a massive store of guides, maps and leaflets, and everything inbetween. (Hair dryer, iron and ironing board, washing machine .... even a kitchen sink LOL) Please be aware, some of the write ups for the cottage may make it seem unclear about the wifi. There IS wifi and it came in great for our Amazon Firestick). There is also a folder full of instruction books and tips for the cottage. Please read it, it is invaluable. (Thanks Melissa...again) The cottage is in a great location to explore all of Cornwall, so we did. Bude, Padstow, Lands End, Mousehole, Mevagissey, Newquay and other places too many to mention. A few tips to first time travellers to Cornwall (like us on this trip), if you are following the satnav then most of the country roads are just wider than the car, so be prepared to reverse to the nearest passing point. Take your time and be patient. When eating outside in Cornwall USE EXTREME CAUTION as the seagulls hunt in packs. We were witness to several ice-creams and pasties lost to these avian scavengers, LOL. Also if you intend to go and cook in the cottage please take heed of the instruction book in the cottage and turn on the extractor fan even when doing toast (if you can, leave the door slightly ajar as well). When shopping for supplies and/or petrol try the local 24 hour Tesco supermarket, while you are there grab a leaflet from "Cornwall Gold" this has an invaluable map of the area to take around with you. We planned days out around this and used it to find places nearby to wherever we were ( not that there aren't ample maps in the cottage, but you can scribble and make notes on this one). There is a hoover and a dustpan and brush for cleaning up, but if you are like we are, a pack of all purpose wipes helped for day to day cleaning and also to leave the cottage as we found it, spotlessly clean. All in all a great cottage and a great holiday (Try not to overdose on the Poldark references !! ;) )

The location of Palmers Lodge was perfect for exploring both coasts. Coming home in the evening to such a nice home made the holiday complete.

The cottage was an absolute delight to stay in. The owners were very pleasant made themselves known to us , offered any help and advice as was needed. Brilliant cream tea was ready for us on arrival. It made an excellent stop for us to visit all of Cornwall from Bude in the North to Plymouth in the South and all the way to Lands End. Cottage was immaculate. Only drawback was no Pub within walking distance All in all a superb break

An excellent cottage with a lovely view - it was very easy to get to various destinations in Cornwall.

Rated by Mr Hayward reviewed on 21st June 2015

This was a wonderful property to stay at with the owner clearly paying attention to the smallest things as well as the bigger aspects of the property. The property is within a short distance of Bude, Boscastle and Tintagel on the coast as well as Launceston which has a large supermarket. We would certainly consider staying here again in the future.

Rated by Mr Gregg reviewed on 9th April 2015

VERY clean and well appointed, exactly what it said on the tin, would go again in a heartbeat. You won't need to take anything with you apart from food!

We liked that the property was central to many places worth visiting eg: Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac. The owners were very nice. The property was well equipped, and was very welcoming after a long day out. The kitchen was very good, and offered everything you needed. We all (my husband and I, and our 3 month old son) have never slept so well!

We loved the warm and friendly welcome by the owner and her willingness to help in any way she could. Her two young daughters were also very helpful and friendly. The complimentary wine and cream tea was very welcome but the best thing was knowing that she was next door and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.

We liked the friendly and ever helpful attitude of the owner and playing football and catch ball with her two daughters. The bottle of wine and the cream tea waiting for us were a nice touch and it is such a peaceful spot. This was our third visit to Palmers Lodge and I'm sure we'll go again.

Rated by Mr White reviewed on 29th July 2012

The holiday was first class. As the place was so clean and tidy we could relax right away, and the lady that owned the cottage was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. We really had a great time even though it rained most of the time!

My husband and I had a wonderful week away staying at palmers lodge in Cornwall last November. The lodge was easy to find, very clean, modern and comfortable. We had a very warm welcome with fresh flowers, a cream tea a few basic provisions. The owners live adjacent to the lodge, but never interfered , we arrived home one evening to find all the electrical power had gone, and we were met by the lady of the house, holding a torch to make sure we got in ok in the dark, and she found plenty of candles to get by with, we were touched by her thoughtfulness, we were told of future plans to improve the lodge and they sound fantastic, I am sure they will be done to the same high standard as the rest of the lodge, it was a real pleasure to stay there

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 5th January 2012

The whole experience was first class, clean well appointed and great value for money. It was close enough to the main attractions whilst at the same time away from it all, although there was a very busy road right outside. The property owner and family, although very close, did not intrude but were always available and very approachable and friendly.

Rated by Mrs Gould reviewed on 20th November 2011

A beautiful modern cottage, all amenities, tastefully decorated, and a warm welcome from very helpful hosts. Masses of guidebooks and maps on the area, and plenty of useful tips on where to go, where to eat, etc. Central location of cottage to explore this part of Cornwall. Rated by Mr Neethling reviewed on 4th May 2011

The accomodation was really clean and comfortable and well located for getting to parts of Cornwall's north coast. However, there is nothing within walking distance of the cottage and it is right on the road - a 60mph road! This is quite disturbing as vehicles fly past.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 25th September 2010

The owners' welcome was very friendly and helpful, with lots of treats eg a cream tea, a bottle of wine and fresh flowers. The cottage was excellent and well laid out - an ideal base for touring most of Cornwall.

We had a lovely stay at Palmer's Lodge and it was just what we needed to get away from the stress and crowds of London! The owners made us feel very welcome and had thought of everything we might need during our stay. The cottage was the perfect size for two people and a great base for exploring the Cornish coast which we made the most of. The decor and furnishings were modern and luxurious but the cottage still retained it's cosy feel.
